Chapter 3

"Where are you taking me?" Rory asked, extremely exasperated. "Oh hold on, were almost there" Said Lorelai as they turned the corner one final time. "Fine, but if I open my eyes and find you naked, I'm calling in the National Guard" Rory said "Rory! I told you not to bring up my weird little fetishes in public, besides that only happened once!" Lorelai said with more then a hint of sarcasm in her voice. They all laughed and Rory felt them open a door and suddenly she heard piano music coming from somewhere close bye. "Can I open my eyes yet?" She asked "Yes you can" They replied.

Rory opened her eyes and immediately her jaw dropped. The were in the dining room of the Inn and it was completely lit by candles, and bouquets of white lilies, violets, and baby's breath were all over the place. The entire room had been cleared and in the middle was one table set for two, and standing next to this table, all dressed in an impeccable tux, was Jess. "Surprise" he said. "Oh my God" was all that could make its way out of Rory's mouth "But I thought... I mean...New York?" she stammered. "All a set up, I wanted this to be special." he smiled. He looked amazing. Rory ran over to him and hugged him "You are amazing" she said "Absolutely amazing"
"And you are beautiful" he returned. She hugged him again and saw Mory, Babettes superbly tall husband, sitting at the piano "Mory?" she asked and he nodded and kept on playing. She noticed Sookie and Luke standing by the door to the kitchen in white chefs uniforms "Oh my god, you were all in on this weren't you?" asked them they smiled and Luke said "Yes, and I would like both your mother and yourself to refrain from any comment regarding this uniform" and with that they went into the kitchen. Rory turned to her parents "Mom? Dad? you were in on this to? Was the whole town?" She asked her mom and dad both grinned from ear to ear, obviously pleased with their secret keeping abilities and her mom said "Everyone accept Mrs. Kim, we refrained from that one because we figured you two didn't want all night supervision and biblical hymns for background music." They left with one more little smile.

Finally she looked at Jess "You!! How did you pull this off?" she asked "Well I went to your mom because I wanted to make your graduation completely special for you, and she came up with this. She coordinated all of it, Mory, Sookie, Luke, everyone." he said "How long have you been planning this?" "about a month, not including the time we spent looking for a place to store all of these candles" he said, he looked deep into her eyes and could see the stars shining through the sparkling blue. "Rory, I love you, and I want you to know it" he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small black box. Rory looked at him, and then at the box, and she opened it, a beautiful silver necklace with a single diamond in the center stared back at her. "Jess...I don't know what to say... its amazing....your amazing, I love you so much" and they kissed passionately before he took the box and laced the necklace around her neck. "Thank you" she said "Thank you for everything, words can't describe.." she whispered. He took her hand and they began to dance, slowly, with every part of each other as one, and she felt so safe with him. Jess was very pleased with himself, an as he looked down at Rory he got that tingle he felt every time he was with her. They kissed again and were silent until Sookie wheeled out food for them "Dinner is served" she announced as she poured sparkling cider into champagne flutes. They sat down and began to eat their cheese burgers with a side of lemon grass filet of fish, obviously dually prepared by both Luke and Sookie. "So this is why I got smaller portions!" Rory exclaimed. Sookie just smiled and returned to the kitchen.

"I still want to know how exactly you pulled this off without me finding out" Rory said. They had long since finished their burgers and desserts and ha been talking about everything. The books they loved so much, her graduation, each other and now the evening was winding down, even the candles were quitting on them, and Rory was doing allk she could to stop it from ending. But Jess got up and gestured for her to do the same "C'mon" Jess said Where are we going? asked Rory. "To your place, your mom is going to stay at Sookie's tonight, and I have rented all of our favorite mock able movies and supplied us with enough junk food to rot anyones teeth out. Because I figured that a special night wasn't complete unless we got to mock movies and eat junk on your couch, then fall asleep in each others arms." he smiled at the amazed expression on her face "You are truly perfect" was all she could say as they headed to her place.
