"You can't catch me!" Rory yelled as she weaved in and out of the trees at a Napa Valley vineyard.

"Yes I will," responded Chase, Rory's godson, whom she was visiting. "You can't get away from me!"

"Chase, stop running after Rory. This is not appropriate behavior!" Paris yelled trying to keep up with the two.

Rory was out in California visiting Paris who lived there and to see her godson, Chase. Paris thought it would be a good idea to do some wine tasting because Napa makes some of the best wine in the States. Rory, not a big wine drinker, gave in and they headed out to the vineyards.

Rory gave up, she couldn't run anymore. She slowed down and sat at a nearby bench gasping for breath. Chase tagged her when he caught up. "I knew I could get you."

Rory laughed. "If I were still 7 you wouldn't."

"Mommy, when are we leaving?" Chase asked Paris when she sat down next to them on the bench.

"As soon as you find our way out of this vineyard."

"Last one back is a rotten egg!" Chase took off from the bench and began running through the trees.

"CHASE!" Paris called after him. "Are you coming?" She looked over to Rory.

"Yeah, I'll be right there, just let me catch my breath."

Paris nodded and headed after Chase.

Rory laughed as she watched Paris, who by the way is not very athletic, run after her son. This was her second to last day before she had to go back to the city. The Times only let her have off one week unfortunately. Rory had gotten a feeling of loneliness as she saw Paris' perfect life. She had a wonderful son and even better, she married Tristin DuGrey. The last boyfriend Rory had turned out to be a disaster. It was hard to find some one trustworthy in the city.

She looked at her watch. She better catch up so they get home. Still on an energy high from all that running, she leapt up and started running back to the main store.

"HEY!" A voice from behind her called.

Still running, she turned around to see who was calling her.

WHACK, she ran into a branch and fell. When she opened her eyes she saw a handsome young man standing above her, his eyes trying to read her every thought.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

Rory could barely talk. This man had quite the effect on her. "I think so." She said as she sat up.

"You got a pretty bad cut on your cheek from the branch."

Rory blushed from embarrassment. "I thought I heard someone calling me to I turned around."

"Yeah, sorry about that, it was me."

"I should get back to the store to clean this off."

"Good idea; let me walk you."

"Oh you don't have to," she said, but secretly she wanted him to.

"It's okay; I was heading back there anyways."

*****

"That should do it," said the man behind the counter. "Be careful out in those vineyards."

"I will, thank you very much." Rory turned back to the stranger. "Well, thanks ---"

"Oh, Jess."

"Thanks Jess, for everything."

"Yeah and sorry for causing you that cut." Jess pointed to the gash on her face.

"Ror!" Paris yelled from behind her. "Where have you been?"

"I got to go. Bye Jess, it was nice meeting you!" Rory turned to leave.

"Wait, I didn't get your name!"

"Rory, its Rory." She smiled at Jess and headed out the door.

"So who was that guy you were talking to in the store?" Paris turned to ask Rory as they drove back to San Francisco.

"Oh just some guy that helped me when I fell."

"Quite the eye catcher, don't you think?"

Rory blushed again. "You could say that."

"Does he have a name?"

"Jess."

"Too bad you won't see him again. He looked like a nice guy."

She sighed. "Yeah." A nice guy would be good to have but she was going back to New York soon and for all she knew he lived in California.

"I'll keep my eye open for him incase he lives in the city."

Rory laughed. "Good luck with that."

*****

"Hey man, stop spacing out will ya?"

Jess turned to his friend. "Sorry, I just can't get that girl out of my head."

"Don't worry, you'll find your match soon enough."

"She was it, she was my match."

"Dude, you talked to her for like 5 minutes. What makes you so sure?"

"I don't know - I could see it in her eyes. It's not everyday you meet a girl like her."

"Did you get her name?"

"Even if I did it wouldn't help."

Jess' friend, Kyle, who owned the vineyard bent down behind the counter and pulled out a book.

"This might help." He gave the book to Jess.

"What is it?"

"Every person that comes and tastes the wine signs this book with their name and where they are from. She had to have signed it."

"Man, you're a genius."

Kyle beamed. Jess flipped open the book and turned to the most recent pages.

"A ha! Here we are. Rory Gilmore, New York City."

"Perfect. You can find her when you get back."

"Gee Kyle. I'll just look her up in the phone book and out of the millions of people in the city, I just might find her." Jess said very sarcastically.

"Hey, no harm in trying."

"She was with a friend. Maybe I can call her."

"Who's before or after Rory?"

"There's a Paris DuGrey, San Francisco and a Dr. James Cannon, Utah. It's gotta be Paris. Damn it, I wish they would leave a phone number or something."

"Chill out man, you'll find her. If you think she's your soul mate, you'll find her."

Jess took out his palm pilot from his pocket and wrote in Paris' and Rory's name. "Let the search begin," he sighed.
