Rory was sitting at home studying, waiting for Dean to come over like he promised he would. He was only 10 minutes late, so she was in no worry. When the phone rang, she answered figuring it would be Dean calling to apologize for being late…already.

"Hello?"

"Hey Rory, it’s Jess."

She was surprised at how happy she was to hear his voice. "Oh hey! What’s up?"

"Uh, not much…listen, I’m at the police station, I was wondering if you could give me a ride home, I didn’t wanna bother Luke and make him have to close the diner to get me."

"The police station? Why? What happened? Are you OK?"

"I’m fine, I’ll explain on the way home, ok?"

"Yeah, alright, I’ll be there as soon as I can."

"OK, see you soon"

"Bye"

"See ya"

Rory was worried, but she was glad that Jess had called her, considering he could probably only make one call. She was so lost in her own world as she headed out the door that she almost forgot about Dean until she ran into him.

"Ah, Dean, sorry."

"Rory, hey, what’s the rush?"

"Oh, nothing…I’ll be right back, OK? Jess needs me to pick him up at the police station, I have no idea what happened, but he must not be guilty or they wouldn’t let him go home."

Dean attempted to look unconcerned, but failed. He just shook his head. "Fine. Go. But don’t expect me to wait here forever."

"K, be back soon."

"Rory…maybe I should come with you, make sure he doesn’t try anything"

"No, I’ll be fine, Jess isn’t like that. He’s my friend."

Dean didn’t look convinced. "Fine, but I don’t know why he would call you if you’re ‘just friends’"

"We are! Ugh, I’ll see you later Dean, I can take care of myself occasionally, you know!" She pushed her way passed her over-protective boyfriend to the car behind him.
