What’s Wrong with the Idea of a One World Government?

By Arthur J Licursi

To the mind of the unregenerate secularist, the idea of a one world government is a logical answer to the world’s apparent needs. They say it will be efficient and cost-effective. (And, I suppose it will keep those pesky, independent thinking freedom loving people better under “control.”) Also, when the secularist views human history, he notes that the majority wars in the world have been rooted in one kind of religious extremism or another; so then the idea of ridding the world of all religions and religion’s most zealous adherents seems to makes perfect sense. This is all the fruit of the fallen mind of mankind.

Jeremiah 17:9-10 (KJV) The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? 10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

Yes, having one world government would be wonderful if men’s hearts were pure in motive and men were actually trustworthy. However, who of men can be trusted since the hearts of all men are deceitful and wicked.

2 Corinthians 4:4 (KJV) In whom the god (Lucifer) of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them

Mankind is deceived to believe they can achieve a beneficent one world government because they are blinded and deceived by their own hearts. The hearts of all men are deceitful.

Only the Lord Himself who knows the hearts of men.

Jeremiah 17:10 (AMP) I the Lord search the mind, I try the heart, even to give to every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.

Hebrews 4:12 (NASB) For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Many think the idea of a "New World Order" to sweep over the world is just an alarmist conspiracy theory. Have you ever looked to notice what is written on the back of the U.S. $1.00 bill, under the pyramid on the back? It has these words written in Latin - “Novus Ordo Seclorum.”

The phrase Novus ordo seclorum, Latin for “New Order of the Ages,” appears on the reverse of the Great Seal of the United States, first designed in 1782 and printed on the back of the US $1 dollar bill since 1935.

The founding fathers who wrote the United States Constitution knew and believed the nature of man is fallen and cannot be trusted without the checks and balances of the three branches of government. Consider the words of George Washington and James Madison. George Washington wrote this in his farewell address. “Of all the dispositions and habits that lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable… And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion.”1 This is why we have three (3) co-equal branches of government in the USA . James Madison, the most influential of the US Constitution’s authors had this to say about the weaknesses of men ruling over men in “Federalist 51.” “If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself.”2 A great problem occurs when all three branches or government are under the control of, or aligned with, one party and one mindset, as we see in the USA today.

The Bible makes clear that a one world government that is coming to this world; one that will enslave mankind as no other time. It will unite the world in its declaration of war upon God and the righteous who believe in God. We already see the marginalization of believing Christians throughout society.

The fact is that there is a one world government coming to this world relatively soon, I believe. Sometime soon “the church, which is His body (the body of Christ)” (Eph 1:22b-23a) will be removed from this world by being caught up “to meet the Lord in the air.” This is commonly called the rapture of the church. Some say there is no such word as “rapture” in the Bible, but consider the Latin Vulgate, an early fifth century Bible version. It was translated from the Hebrew and Aramaic by Jerome between 382 and 405 CE. Note the Latin words that I have inserted in the 1Thessalonians 4:17 below. “Rapiemur and rapturo” are two forms of the same verb, meaning “rapture.”

1Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up (Latin, rapiemur or rapturo, meaning “rapture”) together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

“The body of Christ” will be taken out of this world to “the third heaven,” (2Cor 12:2, far beyond the atmosphere, stratosphere and troposphere) which now is the location of “paradise.”

God then will again turn His attention back to His program for Israel . God will fulfill His promise of judgment upon Israel and the world and the coming of the Kingdom of Heaven to earth. This is in accord with the so-called Lord’s Prayer, which actually is a prayer Jesus gave to the Jews concerning the long promised kingdom to come immediately following the Great Tribulation period of judgment upon the earth. Matthew 6:10 (KJV) …Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven…

We must not confuse the future events for the “the body of Christ,” which is destined for the third heaven, with those future events for the nation Israel and their eternal destiny on earth.

Paul writes to “the body of Christ” concerning the location of our homeland – in heaven – not on earth.

Philippians 3:20 (KJV) For our conversation (Gk., politeuma, and citizenship) is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

We are God “ambassadors for Christ” (2Cor 5:20) while we live upon the earth, since our real home is located in the third heaven or what may be called the super-heavenlies.
