Trusting Him

Thus Psalm 40:4 says: “Blessed is that man who maketh the Lord his TRUST”; and when the Galatians STOPPED TRUSTING completely in the Lord and began leaning on their own works, the Apostle asked them: “Where is then the blessedness ye spake of?” (Gal. 4:15).

Paul says the Lord is at work in our lives through “all things” (Rom 8:28-29), all the events in our lives.

“[Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight.” (Philippians 2:13 (AMP)

In the face of the myriad of circumstances and situations we as believers face in life, we can and in fact should live with an attitude of affirmative trust in His love, grace, mercy, and provision for us “in Christ.” He is always “working all things together for the good” and He will carry us through every trial by the supply of His life and His riches… as we learn to trust Him in the midst of our fiery trials. Our “hope” (confident expectation) is in Him who is faithful.

“Do Not Fret or Have Any Anxiety About Anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer (speaking in spiritual union with God) and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.

⁷And God’s Peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that

Peace] Which Transcends All Understanding Shall Garrison And Mount Guard Over Your Hearts and Minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7 AMP)

Paul encourages us to make our request known to the Lord, not necessarily that we will receive what we want, but rather that in speaking with the Lord, we will let go of our need by trusting God and arrive at His transcendent peace that will securely establish our hearts & minds.

The Facts of God’s Work and of His Faithfulness In Our Lives:

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. ²⁹ For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” (Romans 8:28-29 KJV)

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation (trial) also make a way to escape, (so) that ye may be able to bear it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV)  

 “But my God shall supply (satisfy) all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philip 4:19)

How Are We as Believers to Think:

“Since we consider and look NOT to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are visible are temporal (brief and fleeting), but the things that are invisible are deathless and everlasting.” (2 Corinthians 4:18 AMP)

“For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, (set their minds on) the things of the Spirit. ⁶ For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on (set in accord with) the Spirit… is Life and Peace (to the soul)” (Romans 8:5-6 NASB)

“ ⁸For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].
⁹ Practice what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and model your way of living on it, and the God of peace (of untroubled, undisturbed well-being) will be with you.
¹¹ Not that I am implying that I was in any personal want, for I have learned how to be content (satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or disquieted) in whatever state I am.
¹² … I have learned in any and all circumstances the secret of facing every situation, whether well-fed or going hungry, having a sufficiency and enough to spare or going without and being in want. ¹³ I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency]. (Philippians 4:8-13 AMP)
