Episode Summary
KATE GIVES AN OLD CLASSMATE A SECOND CHANCE AT LOVE WHILE TRYING TO DEFEND A WEALTHY CLIENT'S RIGHTS AFTER HE ADMITS TO AN AFFAIR WITH HIS HOT NANNY; CHARISMA CARPENTER GUEST STARS -- Charisma Carpenter ("Angel") guest stars as Serena Lockner, a former high school classmate of Kate's (Alicia Silverstone) who comes to her looking for relationship advice. Kate is hesitant to help her at first because of their history together, but in the end acquiesces after Serena convinces her that she is a changed person, genuinely interested in finding the right person. After one botched attempt and a bit of coaching, Kate sets Serena up with Michael (David Conrad) and they, to Kate's surprise they seem to be hitting it off, that is until Kate and her chiropractor friend Dean (Johnny Sneed) go out with them on a double date and Serena's true colors are revealed. In the midst of all this, Kate is also embroiled in a nasty divorce proceeding involving a businessman whose wife is claiming that the pre-nuptial agreement they signed is void because he slept with the "hot nanny." Although it seems at first like a pretty straightforward case, Nick (James Roday) charms some very valuable information out of the Nanny (Rachel Shelley), giving Kate and Jerry (Ryan O'Neal) some inside information when they take the case to court. Caitlin plays Didi (aka: The Birthday Girl). She appears in about three scenes throughout the episode. Her character is set up on a blind date with one of Kate's (Alicia Silverstone) friends and in the middle of the date she begins to cry because no one remembered her birthday. That is how her character is known as "the Birthday Girl."

The Pictures in Kate's Yearbook, where pictures of the actress's from previous project years ago (Silverstones from Clueless & Charisma Charpenter's picture is a publicity photo for the third season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.)
