So Alex, if I may call you Alex. What is it that inspires
you about Libraries? Hmmm, that's quite a difficult question but of course you may call me Alex. As for the second part...well...just imagine all those books under the one roof. Sometimes, I get quite into a tizzy over it! Do you intend to ever venture abroad to browse what the continent has to offer in this very specialist field? Well, although language difficulties are something to think about, I feel the overriding value of the Library atmosphere is something very individual. By sensing this, I feel that I truly find the inner soul of the Library and transcend its physical boundaries. I hope to go to one soon. Maybe even for my Summer Holiday. Jolly ho! What makes a good library? You have to start with an attractive, friendly and informative Librarian. Then, we have to look at the wealth of information which could be utilised and therefore give the potential for exciting times. Yet, perhaps the thing which I feel needs to be clarified most is the deep sense of being that each Library exudes. Each has its own character and environment, giving it almost a personality. A personality which practically makes for a lifetimes contentment. You must have had some exciting times in the library...regail us with your favourite library anecdote! Well I can't say that I have anecdotes as such. More I have a pattern and system that I approach the aura of Library with. Firstly I need to feel focused. If noise breaks my concentration I often feel the need to slam down my pen, as a sign of defiance and defence of the sanctity of such a hallowed centre. Then really the secret is to make sure my work flows, and that everything is running smoothly. Simply following the motion of the photocopier seems to make me giddy, as the true rythym of the Library takes hold. Thus, therefore and in conclusion I feel renewed and warmed by the glowing place of knowledge. |
