Darren started out as an EMT-B through Amarillo College. In 1994 he was hired by Plainview Fire/EMS and attended Taylor Fire Training Academy. He was employed by Plainview for 11 years and obtained the rank of Lieutenant. While in Plainview he became an EMT-P in 2001. Darren then worked for TCESD#2 Pflugerville Fire Dept for one and a half years before hiring on with Killeen Fire Dept in 2007. He is currently a Fire Rescue Officer/Paramedic and Team Leader on B Shift Technical Rescue team. Morphis is a Lead Instructor in Flood an Swiftwater Rescue Technician I and Vertical Rope Rescue Technician I. He is an Assistant Instructor in Flood and Swiftwater Rescue Technician II and Vertical Rope Rescue Technician II. Darren has also won the prestigious Higgins and Langley Memorial Award in Swiftwater Rescue for Program Development.
