Well, for those don't know, TFC is a game.  More specifically, it is a modification (MOD) of Half-Life.  In TFC, you play with and against players from around the world.  And what is good about this game is...

 - Various styles of maps to play
 - Various characters to play as
 - Chat while you play

OK...so maybe I haven't fully grown up yet.

So... who to play as...

Scout - Fast but weak Sniper - Deadly from a distance Soldier - Good Offense/Defense balance but slow Demoman - Decent...but tricky to learn for newbies Medic - Good all-around play and important to have on team!
Heavy Weapons (HW) - Wanna good character to start off with? Pyro - Not as tough as Soldier Spy - Good for experienced players Engineer (Engy) - Awesome defense...my personal favorite!!!

And those different styles of maps to play in...
Attack/Defend - One team is the attackers and one defends the "fort".  Fun to play, but can get frustrating at times if you are on the attacking team...some maps play to the advantage of the defenders due to poor design. Capture the Flag - Probably one of the most popular and definitely fun to play.  The enemies flag is in your fort and vice versa.  Go to their fort and get your flag...bring it back to your fort for Team (and some personal) Capture Points. Flag Run - A variation of CTF, only the flags are located usually in the center of the map...first come first serve (don't forget to protect what you have captured!). Control Zone - Another fun style map to play.  Usually five different points on a map to capture then protect until all the others are captured.  Definitely needs teamwork to be done right! Escort the VIP - Fun, but limited style of map.  Either play as an assassin (usually sniper), a body guard, or as the VIP (weaponless).  The VIP definitely relies on the bodyguards to "escape" to a designated spot in the map.

So, what does it all mean?  You start up TFC, log onto a game server (from somewhere in the world), and then battle it out with people from any-ole-place (and talk trash to them as ya do it too!).  Of course, this is an over-simplization of the whole process...for more in-depth reviews/tutorials/insight...go to one of these links:
