Just as the Power Rangers reached the Monolith which supposedly contained the Great Power, they were challenged by four stone gargoyles that emerged from the face of the Monolith itself. With no Ranger Powers to protect them, the Rangers had to rely on their wits to survive and defeat the gargoyles, who possessed incredible strength as well as lethal weapons. Eventually, the Rangers emerged victorious, slaying the the gargoyles one-by-one: The first was knocked into a pond by Adam, sinking to the bottom; the second was crushed by boulders thanks to Kimberly and Tommy; the third was accidentally slashed in half by the fourth's weapon; and the last gargoyle received a corkscrew kick to the gut from Tommy, sending it flying backwards and crashing into the Monolith, shattering into thousands of pieces.
