The Wizard of Deception was sent to Earth by the Ghost of Darkness for Rita Repulsa. Utilizing a lock of Tommy's hair, the Wizard generated a clone of Tommy, who then became the evil Green Ranger. The Wizard soon sent the five primary Rangers back to the 1700s, and watched as the Green Ranger did battle with the White Ranger. When it became apparent there would be no victor, the Wizard demorphed the White Ranger, and instructed the Green Ranger to summon the DragonZord and destroy Angel Grove. Travelling back to the 1700s, the Wizard kept the Rangers occupied by turning three rats into large, humanoid monsters. Returning to the present, the Wizard cast an evil spell upon the DragonZord as it rose from the sea, turning it evil. When Tommy stole the Wizard's magic wand, he was able to retrieve the other Rangers from the past. As they fought the DragonZord, Tommy used the wand to vaporize the Wizard of Deception, leaving nothing but his robes.
