RAINEY, JAMES: The only evidence of this soldier’s service are prisoner of war papers that show that he was captured 1 Dec 1864 at Lewisburg, AR. Listed as a Private, Co G. He was then sent to the prison at Little Rock where he was held until he was paroled on 7 Feb 1865. He is described in prison records as having fair complexion, dark hair, blue eyes and 5’ 9” in height.

Horse appraised at $100 and horse equipment at $10. Transferred to Co C 1 Nov 1862. Present Dec 1863. (No Further Record). According to James Davis, Randol Family Records, in information that has yet to be verified, he was taken prisoner at a place and date unknown, charged with being a spy, and executed by Federal troops 23 Feb 1864. Paroled at Shreveport, LA 7 Jun 1865. Is likely the same person who died in 1869 and is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Mississippi Co., MO.
RANDOL, JAMES HARVEY: Age: 30. Enlisted as Private in Co D 22 Sep 1862 in Cape Girardeau County. Horse appraised at $125. Appointed 4th Corporal 26 Sep 1862. Transferred to Co K and elected Junior 2nd Lieutenant 6 Dec 1862. Transferred to dismounted cavalry 26 Jul 1863. Captured by the enemy while at home on furlough in Cape Girardeau Co, MO 1 Oct 1863. He was charged and tried before Federal military court for violation of oath of allegiance. Transported to St. Louis, MO, to prison. No disposition of trial is of record. (No Further Record). Prison records list him as 28, standing 5’ 6”, with black eyes and dark hair. Residence: Cape Girardeau Co., MO.

REVELL, BENJAMIN F.: Age: 33. Enlisted as Private in Co A 21 Aug 1862 in Bollinger County. Detailed as hospital nurse at Wittsburg, AR 1 Jul 1863. Captured at Wittsburg, AR 28 Aug 1863. Died of disease at Alton, IL military prison 23 Dec 1863 and is buried in the Confederate Cemetery at that locale.
REVELL, JAMES K. P.: (Served in the Missouri State Guard as Private, 4th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division). Age: 29. Enlisted as Private in Co A 21 Aug 1862 in Bollinger County. Deserted 30 Sep 1862. According to Eakin, Missouri Prisoners of War, n.p., he was taken prisoner in Bollinger Co, MO, 21 Mar 1863 and transferred to prison in St. Louis, MO, where he was released after taking the oath of allegiance and posting a bond.

REVELL, NOAH: Age: ? Enlisted as Private in Co G 10 May 1863 at Wittsburg, AR. He was detailed and left in camp at Wittsburg, AR 26 Jul 1863. Transferred to Co A at date not of record. Paroled as Private, Co B, at Shreveport, LA 7 Jun 1865. Residence: Bollinger County.
REVELL, THOMAS JEFFERSON: Age: 25. Enlisted as Private in Co A 21 Aug 1862 in Bollinger County. Deserted 10 Sep 1862. (No Further Record) In Eakin, Missouri Prisoners of War, n.p., he was captured in Bollinger Co, MO, 24 Mar 1863, transported to St. Louis, MO, and thence to Alton, IL, military prison. He was then forwarded to City Point, VA for exchange. Died at some point after exchange as he is buried in the Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA.
REVELL, ROBERT D.: His enlistment data is not of record. Taken prisoner at Wittsburg, AR, 28 Aug 1863 and transported to Alton, IL, military prison. He died of disease at that prison on 22 Dec 1863.
REYNOLDS, WILLIAM: (Served in Missouri State Guard as Private, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Division) Age: 30. Enlisted as Private in Co A 17 Aug 1862 in Bollinger County. Deserted 27 Jan 1863. He was taken prisoner in Bollinger Co, MO, on either 1 or 8 Mar 1863, and imprisoned at Alton, IL, military prison, according to Eakin, Missouri Prisoners of War, n.p. This soldier was apparently exchanged in Virginia, for he enlisted as a private in Capt. Charles H. Woodson’s company of Missouri cavalry in Richmond on 1 Jul 1863 and last reported present on 31 Aug 1863. Final disposition is unknown. Woodson’s company was the only Missouri Confederate unit to serve in Virginia. Residence: Bollinger County.
RICHARDS, JACOB S.: (Served in Missouri State Guard as Sergeant, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Division) Age: 26. Enlisted as Private in Co K 18 Oct 1862 in Cape Girardeau County. Wounded in action and captured at Bayou Fourche, AR, near Little Rock, 10 Sep 1863. Imprisoned at Little Rock prison. Forwarded to Gratiot Street Military Prison, St. Louis, MO where he died of chronic diarrhea 14 Mar 1864. He is buried in Grave 9817 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

RILEY, WILLIAM: Age: 22. He was a graduate of the Kentucky Military Institute. Previously served as 2nd Lieutenant in 1st Missouri Infantry Regiment, C.S.A., but resigned his commission. Enlisted as Private in Co I 23 Oct 1862. Horse appraised at $140 and horse equipment at $25. Promoted from the ranks to Junior 2nd Lieutenant 15 Feb 1863. Promoted to 1st Lieutenant 10 Jun 1863. Paroled at Shreveport, LA 7 Jun 1865 as 1st Lieutenant commanding Co C. Goodspeed’s History of Southeast Missouri, p. 909, has his biography, as does the Missouri volume of Confederate Military History, Vol. IX, pp. 392-393.. Residence: New Madrid County. Died 12 Oct 1905 and buried in the Riley Cemetery, New Madrid Co, MO.

RUSSELL, ROBERT R.: (Served in Missouri State Guard as Sergeant, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Division) Age: 20. Enlisted as Private in Co B 19 Aug 1862 in Cape Girardeau County. Horse appraised at $150 and horse equipment at $12. Elected 1st Lieutenant 13 Sep 1862. Wounded in action at Sullivan Station, MO 3 Oct 1864. Captured by the enemy in Madison Co, MO 9 Oct 1864. Sent from St. Louis, MO to Johnson's Island, OH for exchange 12 Nov 1864. (No Further Record). According to an article in the Collage of Cape County, Vol. 16, No. 2 (September 1996), p. 28, he accompanied Gen. Joseph O. Shelby to Mexico at the conclusion of the war and was never heard from again. Residence: Cape Girardeau County.
