The North Alabama Wheelers Sports
program was formed in 1987 as a result of several area residents with
physical disabilities expressing the desire to play competitive basketball.
The original founders of the team have built an excellent program
to provide both physical and mental exercise for the rigorous needs
of the physically disabled.
We have grown from a group of individuals
playing basketball to an organization striving to gain community
awareness of, and involvement, in the needs of the physically disabled.
It is our desire to make the community aware of our special ABILITIES,
not our disabilities. We also strive to serve as role models for
other individuals and to hopefully inspire everyone in the community
with our CAN DO attitude.
