What
is tab/tablature?
Tab/tablature
is a nother method of writing music for guitar, bass, or drums. You use
numbers and symbols to show what to play on the insterment (this will be
gone over with later).
The Basics
of Tablature
Writing
tab is easy to read and write if you know the correct way to do it. When
your righting down a guitar tab you make 6 lines (or 4 if your doing bass).
Each line represents a individual string on the insterment. You would want
to right it out like this:
E----------------------------------------------------------------
B----------------------------------------------------------------
G----------------------------------------------------------------
D----------------------------------------------------------------
A----------------------------------------------------------------
E----------------------------------------------------------------
Or if your
writing out bass, then you would write out just the E A D G lines. Its always
best to indicate as much as possible about the tab your righting. Just so
you help out the person using your tab and play it right with out any difficluties
or confusion. On each line you will see numbers. These numbers represent
the fret number on the guitar or bass. So if you see something like this:
E|--4----5---4-5 Then you would play the 4th fret on the
low E string (or also known as the 6th string). NOTE: Most tabs you find
are never tabbed out with the correct strumming, so its recomended to listen
to the track and figure out the strumming.
When you
run into a a thing on the tab where there is more than one note on top of
each other, these represent chords.
