Deep South University was founded in 1910 by Gerald Edward Bufford Stuart.
Stuart was then serving time in prison for taking chickens from a local landowner's hen house. While on the chain gang, Stuart got the idea of starting a college that grants degrees in everything, but actually does not offer any education. While still in jail, Stuart founded the Deep South College and began sending out ads in small newspapers. After his release (bought with money from his new school) Stuart bought a run-down chicken coupe, a type writer and small printing press. He also aquired wax and a stamper for his seal.
Over all these years, Stuart has ran his schools all over the country and later in other parts of the world. Today, at age 113, he still strives to make sure that students get that degree. Of course, since the old guy is slipping, we don't tell him that the diplomas are free for you now!
