Our troop has recently ended a great week at boy
scout camp. Our whole troop attended and while there earned merit
badges and learned life skills. We also had some fun on the water
front, climbing wall, rifle and archery ranges. We had a blast going
mountain biking and also had a lot of fun back at our camp site.
Every year each patrol has to build a pioneering project. This year,
the Dragons and Wolves joined together to create one big project.
They built a gate to the lower sites where the two patrols were staying
for the week. Out other two patrols, the Sea Monkeys and the Sharks
also built a joint project. They built a monkey bridge. When
the week was over, we had learned a lot and were proud of ourselves.
Our troop also has recently gone on a troop trip. We go on a trip every year. This trip was to Pennsylvania. We had a great time visiting many places. We started out on a Saturday, driving up for almost the whole day. We stayed in Lancaster County. The second day we visited Hershey Amusement Park. The weather here was great and there were almost no lines for the rides. On Monday we visited Philadelphia. We saw the Liberty Bell and participated in a reenactment of Continental Army recruits. On the fourth day we tried to visit some farmer's markets and amish style markets, but they were closed. In the afternoon we saw the play Daniel. Many of our scouts were amazed by the Sight and Sound Theater and how the stage wrapped around the sides of the audience. That night we had a cook out with our host troop, Troop 28. There was delicious food and exciting games. On Wednesday we toured Gettysburg and saw Eisenhower's house. That night we had dinner at an amish family's house. The food was wonderful and it was a very memorable occasion. On Thursday we went back to the farmer's markets. This time they were open. We spent most of the day shopping around at various markets. For dinner we went to a dinner theater. Everyone agreed that the food was excellent and the play, I Hate Hamlet, was also good. The next day, Friday, was a busy day. We traveled first to the Indian Echo Caverns where we saw amazing rock formations. Then we went to President Buchanan's home, Whiteland. The last thing of the day was the Amazing Maize Maze, a giant maze made out of corn. Our younger scouts did very well in this, while our older scouts just kept getting lost. At the end of the day we went to another dinner theater where we saw Kiss Me Kate. On Saturday, we had a lot of free time, using it to pack or play games like kickball or Dungeons and Dragons. That night was a spaghetti dinner with our host troop, Troop 28. On Sunday, we packed up the vans, said good bye to Pennsylvania, and headed home to our parents and families.
