Thailand

Thailand is well known for it's wide variety of goods. You can find anything you are looking for on the streets of any of the larger cities in Thailand, and all for very cheap. DVD's and CD's are only a couple of hundred baht. Baht is the currency used in thailand and the exchange rate varies from around 50 to 60 baht to the American dollar.

If you are planning on taking a trip to Thailand, be careful on the streets. Though the people are extremely friendly and the atmosphere is great there are many vendors out to rob you. You will be afforded the opportunity to take pictures with cute animals, but if the little monkeys don't pick your pocket, you may be charged a ridiculous price for the picture. If you choose not to pay this, you may find yourself in a Thai prison.

Two local women sell a variety of jewelry and paraphernalia to the many tourists in Pattaya.

The streets of most of Pattaya are not as nice as the one shown here, however there are many dive shops such as Mermaids. Most diving done from Pattaya is from boats farther off shore. Phuket is a more popular dive location.

I took this photo at the Tiger Zoo which is located nearly two hours away from Pattaya. There are a large variety of animals and shows here, but I don't know how well the animals are treated or how safe it is to handle them. You will see that I touched nearly everything I saw, but it wasn't the smartest thing in the world to do. I've always heard that your first trip to Thailand may cause mild to severe cases of insanity so I'll use that as my excuse.

As I said before, the atmosphere in Thailand is completely and unbelievably relaxed. I don't think I have had a better time in one place in all my travels, and taking into consideration that while I was in Thailand I was working on Operation Cobra Gold, so I was constantly busy. I think it's better that I spent the majority of my time working because during the time I was in Thailand I was single and Thailand is definitely a single man's paradise.
