The museum's collection began in the late 70's
with three veteran artists and a small group of volunteers. From the beginning,
we have been dedicated to collecting, preserving and displaying artwork
on the subject of the Vietnam War created exclusively by Vietnam Veterans.
As of the year 200, we have over 1,000 works of art done by over 130 artists, mostly Americans, but also Australian, Cambodian, Thai, South Vietnamese and also work done by our former enemy, the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese. Collectively, our artists came from every conceivable war experience--infantry, naval, air crew, nurses, doctors, and prisoners of war. The artworks reflect their personal experiences. the collection includes paintings, drawings, photography, sculptures, poetry and prose, and artifacts. |
