The Bonanno Crime Family was created out of the Castalamaresse War, and was one of the charter families of The Commission. The Bonanno Crime Family has been named after Joe Bonanno, and was briefly renamed The Massino Crime Family once they had been given their seat back on The Commission, but has since be renamed the Bonanno Crime Family once again. The Bonanno Family had lost its seat on The Commission thanks to the Donnie Brasco fiasco and the family's continuous dealing in drugs. Under Joe Massino the Bonanno Family regained its seat on The Commission with the help of John Gotti and the Gambino Crime Family.
