The Philadelphia Crime Family was once a powerful family with sole control over both Philadelphia and Atlantic City. Under the leadership of Angelo "the Gentle Don" Bruno Atlantic City was opened up to all LCN Families, one of the contributors to the war which would break out within the family. Another family war in the 1990s between John Stanfa and Joey Merlino-Ralph Natale brought heavy FBI scrutiny to the family as well. Natale was set up as the front boss for Merlino and made to go down allowing Merlino to emerge as the Boss afterward, sheltering himself from the FBI for as long as possible with Natale as his puppet. When Natale found out while under indictment he agreed to cooperate against Merlino and his men. Joseph "Uncle Joe" Ligambi has been head of the family since Merlino was deposed by The Commission and has helped the family in a rebuilding process.
