The Marcello Crime Family has often been recognized as one of the most secretive LCN families in the nation. The Marcello Crime Family is so secretive in fact that there have been reports that the family may be defunct, reports that the family is operating on small measures with around three made members left, and reports that the family has about ten made members and is actually one of the strongest in the country. Whatever the story may be, the family has become such a small family for two reasons, Carlos Marcello, the family's namesake, like John Scalise of Cleveland and Sebastian LaRocca of Pittsburgh made very few new members in the latter years of his reign, which has helped to make the family much smaller. However, the second reason is that many of the family's associates supposedly turn down membership in hopes of attracting less police scrutiny.
