The Detroit Partnership was born out of warring Mafia clans in the greater Detroit area. The first three "bosses" of the Detroit Partnership were not bosses in the sense of a Mafia boss, they just happened to be the three most powerful mobsters in Detroit at that time period. Salvatore Catalanotte is often recognized as the first official boss of Detroit under La Cosa Nostra. The family remains one of the stronger LCN families in the country through secrecy, much like its counter part in Chicago The Chicago Outfit.
