Located only ninety miles away from Chicago, it was difficult for the Zammuto Crime Family to become a power in the American criminal underworld. The Chicago Outfit often had active members in the Rockford area which made it a little harder for the Zammuto Family to make money or find new members, since most would rather join the much stronger Chicago Outfit. The Zammuto Crime Family has been considered defunct when boss Charles Vince died in 1994.
