NO TO YOU, DRUGS

Lyrics to a rap song I composed.

by Teresita Perez

I started off as genes.
I'm a chemical creature.
My body machine
has outstanding features.

It needs basic elements
in specific amounts,
so I stick to a regiment
of perfect compounds.

I drink plenty of water.
I eat nourishing foods.
I obey all the orders.
I'm a positive dude.

I don't do drugs.
They would alter my brain.
I might act like a hog
or think I'm a train.

That would spoil my dignity,
my image, style, class...
I prefer pride and liberty.
I'm no slave to grass.

Drugs want me to die.
They are my enemy.
They send me up high
just to steal my money.

Drugs are for fools,
for all time losers.
But I live by the rules.
I'm no needle user.

No alcohol, please;
and, of course, no smoking.
A promise like me
finds the low life shocking.

I have good credentials,
common sense and reason
'cause I follow the essentials
of a superior lesson:

I think I'm cool
when my brain's not a mess,
and exercise it with school,
the gym of success.
