STONES AND SAND

by Teresita Perez

I told the world you were evil.
Upheld your guilt, sins and shame,
instigated an upheaval,
rocks in hand ready to aim.

Then I noticed a Man writing
with His finger on the ground,
other sins silently citing
so that I would not be found.

My face flushed. I backed away.
The wind, like an unseen hand,
rubbed the words as grace erased
my blame exposed on the sand.

The Finger that carved in stones
God's Eternal Ten Command,
so I'd know he'd paid my wrongs
traced my debt upon the sand.
