        MY HAPPY SIGH

        by Teresita Perez

        Lord, my boy
        is now a man.
He no longer plays with toys.
He no longer holds my hand.

        But he has my heart
        and holds it
        and molds it
        with the warmth of
        his special love.

He writes and let's me know
that he is there caring always, caring so,
making me feel safe and secure as I stride
toward the winter of my life.

Yes, we are separated by many miles,
but he's my hero, the apple of my eyes,
        the gift and the surprise.

        In my youth
he was my comfort as a boy.
        In my autumn
he is my comfort as a youth.
He fills my heart with joy.
        His overflowing love woos
from the pedestal where he stands
        graceful, in command.

He is Your gift to me,
        the perfect gift indeed,
        product of Your awesome plan
        to give me happiness,
        to ease my mind.

        Thank you, Lord,
for memories of Eric Ivan linger on
        soothing my soul,
        inspiring me to rest,
        making me feel not alone,
but contented, in my empty nest.
