PUPPY LOVE

There was a little puppy
who loved the human hand
of someone very special,
a very gentle man.

The puppy's tail was very lovely,
the best that one can find.
But the puppy itself was kind of ugly
to those with love not blind.

The puppy needed its tail cut
and surrendered to the task;
but its best friend cut it inch by inch
instead of clean and fast.

Maybe the man knew not the trick,
heard not the crying bark,
when cutting off the puppy's tail:
"You're making this so hard."
