by Teresita Perez
Haven't seen you since last year,
and although you'll soon be home,
specially today I miss you.
Without you I feel alone.
Trying to comfort my spirit
when my sorrow is so deep,
in the garden I seek refuge,
but all I do there is weep.
No peace brings the vegetation.
Helpless, I look at the sky.
The clouds, understanding, darken,
and for me begin to cry.
But they stop. A happy scenery
of a park with many rides,
they display; and I see children
use the rainbow as their slide.
The earth has been wet, but thankful
is yielding crops that will bless
those who hunger, who are needy,
and are seeking happiness.
Now I know that tears and darkness
have a purpose for a while,
so patiently I shall linger
for the rainbows of my life.
