LUCKY HEARTS

by Teresita Perez

All happy-go-lucky hearts
do just what happy hearts do.
They're always wearing a smile
and love cheering people too.
They don't know that they're a part
of a not so happy world
where pigs seem to treasure pearls
and that's not what piggies do.

All happy-go-lucky hearts
see a sty where there's some fun,
join and then find their own art
blamed for filth others begun.
They don't know they must depart
their need to bring satisfaction.
Pigs will only view their actions
as chance to accuse of wrong.

The problems is lucky hearts
can't tell a pig from an angel.
They can never tell apart
what is safety zone or danger.
But when they're hit by the darts,
they turn their back, walk away,
will not admit, think or say
that they even knew the stranger.

From then on all lucky hearts,
no matter how much you poke,
will ignore you. So get smart,
you cannot again provoke.
And if you wish a re-start,
they'll deny you anywhere,
for lucky hearts do not care
to be burned by your next joke.
