Last night Placebo made another performance at the Leicester Square night-club Cafe de Paris, as a celebration of the wedding that had taken place that day. The following advert was published in 'Time Out' a week before the event.
"God Save the Merkin, Cafe de Paris - WEDNESDAY
Miss Dee, Carolyn Mac, Mickey P and many more host
this 'bonkers' monthly which tonight is going to be a
wedding reception (with bells on!) as Carolyn Mac
celebrates her wedding to Andy Blake in the Cafe this
afternoon. Just the cue for Placebo to perform 'White
Wedding' and the Ping Pong Bitches, Pam Hogg, Boy
George etc all set to play live on stage too!"
As promised, Placebo took to the stage at around 11pm and proceeded with a very 'interesting' version of Billy Idol's 'White Wedding', featuring Brian on vocals, Stefan on guitar and Bill (the band's secret weapon as ever from behind the stage!) on bass.
Check the picture below and for more from the night, go to the Gallery.

| 29-5-02 BRIAN FEATURED IN KERRANG
|
|
Brian has made an appearance in this week's Kerrang, which apparently is now a hair magazine. Having clearly run short of any music news, they devoted a paragraph to Brian's new haircut, perhaps forgetting that they run a music magazine- not Cosmopolitan. The offending paragaph:
"Placebo frontman Brian Molko’s new haircut has been slammed by a top London barber. “People with very dark hair can’t get away with this,” snorts a spokesman for the Spike and Violet salon. “The style doesn’t suit him at all.”
Molko unveiled the contentious cut at a photo shoot to promote his collaboration with dance-mongers the Alpine Stars on the ‘Carbon Kid’ single. The single is released on June 3. By which time Molko may have taken our barber’s advice: “He needs to bleach the ends for a more textured look and crop it a little.” Mr Molko, you have been told…"
There's also a picture, which can be found in the Gallery. Kerrang have thoughtfully added a bright red circle around his head, just in case someone is incapable of reading the caption. In consideration of Kerrang's readership, perhaps it's not such a bad idea.

| 20-5-02 "ROCK IS BORING"
|
|
Brian has made a statement to Kerrang.com as part of his UK promo for Carbon Kid;
"20 May 2002 1.14pm
Molko: 'Rock is boring!'
Placebo man goes electronic with The Alpine Stars
"Placebo frontman Brian Molko, who makes a guest appearance on electronic duo The Alpine Stars' new single 'Carbon Kid', has declared that "rock is boring". The single will be released on June 3.
Molko told Kerrang!: "It's sounds very different to Placebo. It's upbeat and electronic even though there are guitars on it. Its got hints of Public Image Ltd in it, but in a modern, electronic way. I hope Placebo fans will like it. We've met a few who are down on our obsession with electronic music. It's a shame as it is really important to us.
At themoment, electronic music is more original and exciting than rock music. Most of rock is quite boring at the moment."
Placebo will be working on their follow-up to 'Black Market Music' in the summer."
| 10-5-02 DUET WITH ASIA ARGENTO!
|
|
The following news taken from Scarlet Angel
"Asia will record the very sexy song 'Je T'aime Moi Non Plus" (the magic duo between Jane and Serge) with the French electro musician Tikovoi and Brian Molko (the leader of Placebo). Asia will be Serge, and Brian Jane, for more androgyny! The most glam rock couple of the moment will make a video directed by Asia."
It's also transpired that although the two will be recording their vocals separately, there is a possibility that they'll get together in St Malo to do a live performance, so keep checking back!
| 20-5-02 "BRIAN COLLABORATES ON NEW ALBUM"
|
|
Dimitri Tikovoi, creator of the Vibrator remix of Blackeyed, has been working on a compilation album. Brian will be contributing 2 songs to it, 'Je T'aime Moi Non Plus', (Serge Gainsbourgh) and 'The Metric System', an electronic-influenced song written by Brian himself, about selling sperm to celebrity lesbians(!) The album, titled 'Positions' is expected to be released in the autumn - keep a look-out for it!
