Imagine being able to find fossils. from millions of years ago in your own yard. Each rain exposes new fossils. When the rainfall is approximately 1.5 inches or more at once, the small creek floods into the pond here, carrying more fossils along the way. Limestone is the sedimentary rock and is about 6 feet under the ground, full of sealife fossils from the Pennsylvanian time era. My grandaughter stands by a shovel on the dirt pile that was moved from the pond to make it deeper, exposing many new fossils. With the hot and humid summers here in Oklahoma, about mid-summer the water in the pond begins to evaporate, leaving more fossils to find. .
