Craig Stankus
Craig J. Stankus, passed away peacefully from this world on May 21, 2006. He was 54 years old. He had for the past 20 years been living with the effects of an Artiel Venus Malformation and brain surgery that followed. In his 54 years, he had a full life having grown up in North Babylon and graduating from NBHS in 1969. He enjoyed playing football and running track. Craig earned his undergraduate degree in International Affairs at Lafayette College, Easton, PA. He spent time as an exchange student in International Affairs in Vienna, Austria. He played football for Lafayette College. He was employed in Washington, DC for a number of years and came to New York City and worked for Kidder, Peabody and Company. While living in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, he was active in Greenpoint Lions Club, member of Managers of Greenpoint YMCA and member of Board of Directors for Greenpoint Repertory Co. where he produced plays and acted. In 1982, he was co-producer of "Bleacher Bums Productions" NYC. He enjoyed the theater, writing and traveling the world. He was associated with the Long Island Head Injury Association, Inc. as a job coach and instructor in German. He is survived by his mother, Frieda. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph S. Stankus. Surviving is his brother, Kurt, sister in law, Patricia; his nephew, Connor; and his niece, Chelsea.
