Tips on how to ask for help

Are you depressed? Take the online screening test at ODST to find out.

If you are depressed, you need to get help as soon as possible.

It won't pass or get better by itself. I can guarantee you this. When we are depressed, most of us thinks it's just the blues and that it'll get better by itself. But we are wrong. If your blues last for more than 2 weeks, it's depression. You may need medications and/or therapy. The more you wait, the deeper you'll be depressed and harder it'll be to get some help.

Again, it won't get better by itself

1. Tell your doctor, parents, a trusted friend, school counsellor, school principal, teacher, aunt, uncle, etc. that you think you are depressed and need some help.

You can say something like:

"_______... I took this online screening test and it said I was depressed. That's weird, eh? Could they be right?"

"_______... I feel so blue lately... and it's like not going away... Do you think I should get help?"

"Doctor, i think I'm depressed. I've been feeling really blue lately and it doesn't go away"

2. It's not your fault. Don't be embarassed to talk about it.

3. If you don't think you can ask help by talking to somebody. Write it in a letter and give it to the person.

4. If you think you cannot do all of this... why not write down ur feeling in a poem or a dear diary... format... and let it on ur desk... somewhere somebody will see it.

More tips will be coming soon... in the meantime...please for your sake... get help. It'll only get worst and then it's so hard getting help. Believe me by my experience.
