This is a wonderful description of Don Diamond's reaction to a Zorro fan's comments:

When I met Don Diamond at the reception following Guy's Walk of Fame ceremony,
he was carrying in his pocket a little slip of paper with a list of the roles he had played.
He didn't expect anyone to know who he was!

I spoke with him later in the afternoon
after everyone had been making a fuss over him for hours.
His face was filled with emotion when he said that he didn't understand why he was important to all of us.

I said to him, "When I was a little girl and watched "Zorro," you made me laugh.
When I watched "Zorro" last night, you made me laugh.
You have given the gift of a lifetime of laughter to us."
He had tears in his eyes when I finished speaking,
but I know that he knew for sure how special he was to all of us.
