(Diego is questioning Maria about her knowledge of the shooting. She assures him that Zorro will return and take care of everything.)

(Maria has gone out back of the tavern and Bernardo has followed her to make sure she returns. When neither of them return, Diego goes out to see what happened)

(Zorro has managed to jump aboard the carriage in order to get Maria to safety.)
