Episode 29

First off, let me say how much I love the repartees between Sgt. Garcia and Cpl. Reyes in tonight's show. The scenes with the bear in the plaza and the two soldiers trying to figure out why the muskets failed to fire and then how in the world gunpowder could become charcoal are priceless.

The episode about the gunpowder is a good example of Corporel Reyes mind at work. He is quite logical about the gun powder. "It doesn't look like gun powder. It doesn't smell like gun powder. It doesn't act like gun powder." He even reasonably decides he can't tell if it tastes like gun powder since he has never tasted gun powder before.

I always thrill to hear Henry Calvin say: "If something was not wrong, things would not seem right." And then I love to hear Reyes say:"Never did I hear so many quiet noises." Someone was really on the ball with the writing here.

And I can't miss the scene with Garcia and Diego: "Sergeant, do you have a problem?" This is another great scene with Diego using his usual subtle tact to get information from Garcia.
