(Diego and Anna Maria have attempted to free Ricardo, who is about to be hanged as Zorro. The Commandante is angry because of Ricardo's practical jokes, two of which ended up embarassing the Commandante. He said that Ricardo will hang, and ordered a soldier to escort Diego and Anna Maria back to the Inn and see that they remain there until after the hanging.)

(Zorro arrives on the scene just as the noose is placed around Ricardo's neck, and shoots a flaming arrow from the roof.)

(Once Zorro has taken control of the situation, he dunks Ricardo in the water to show what he thinks of Ricardo's impersonation.)
