What is THON?

Penn State's IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon is the largest student-run philanthrophy in the world. Commonly referred to as THON, it is held each February for 46 hours in the Bryce Jordan Center on Campus. It began in 1972 and has raised more than $52 million since then.

During my time as a Penn State student, I proudly served as a morale committee member and a public relations captain. For the students, THON is a year-long commitment and, for me, it formed lifelong friendships. For the children of the Four Diamonds Fund, which it benefits, it is life-saving. I'm proud to be a part of it even now as an alumni. Most recently, I served as co-chair for the Philadelphia Alumni Chapter's 2009 Liberty Ball, which benefits THON and a local charity.

The following video will give you a brief glimpse into what THON weekend is like for the students and - bonus - I'm in it!
