Hello! I am MidgarSlumQueen, aka Midgar or Midi-chan, and Nuriko-sama has asked me to handle his page. He's done a lovely job of page building so far, but I do have more experience in these things...
The Nuriko character was created by Watase Yu in her awesome Fushigi Yugi: The Mysterious Play manga/anime. He was born Chou Ryuuen in the ancient Chinese empire of Hong Nan. He was the second of three children. His younger sister, Kourin, died at the age of nine, and Ryuuen was so devastated by it that he refused to accept it. He decided to sacrifice his own life and live out Kourin's instead. He began dressing like a woman and living as a woman, and he carried on the ruse so successfully that, by the time she was eighteen, Ryuuen (who was calling himself Kourin) was a potential bride for the Emperor Hotohori! At this point, she was discovered to be a Celestial Warrior of the god Suzaku. Her seishi name was Nuriko. Later, Miaka, the time traveling Preistess of Suzaku, discovered Nuriko's secret, and he was revealed to be a man. Nuriko is a dearly beloved character by all the Yuugi otaku because of his tendancy towards evil jokes on Miaka and being a generally lovable pain in the neck.
I refuse to give out any more spoilers because I'm only on volume two of the manga and I almost cried when I found out that Hotohori ends up with someone else. I mean, that is soooo not fair! The links below are to a few more Nuriko shrines that I've found... They are truly awesome!
In Ayanee, Celestial_Warrior_Nuriko is a retired Suzaku seishi. His storyline, by general assumption, takes place between his two lives: the one in Konan and the one in 20th century Japan. Apparently, after Nuriko died, he still had a lot of life left to live, so Suzaku allowed him to finish this life in Ayanee, the world between worlds. While there, he fell in love with a certain ebon-haired eastern mage from the manga series "Bakuretsu Hunters." Marron Glace seems the perfect match for our beloved Nuriko-sama... Especially to the purple one himself. After everything fell to hell with Nuriko's life in Ayanee, he decided to track down his first lover of the afterlife, and devote himself to this mysterious, powerful and beautiful man with all his heart. Unfortunately, while Tira is supportive, Chocolate thinks its cute, and Gateau seems to be in blissful denial, Carrot is vocally upset with the idea...
Arigatou, Midi-chan! Here is a little note, just in case anyone has any doubts left: I play Nuriko as bisexual, though biased in favor of men. I prefer him that way, even though I wonder what Watase was thinking when she went crazy and had him fall for Miaka. All writers have their lame moments, so it's cool. *sigh*
