In the not to distant future, Gothan city is overwhelming with crime and chaos. Bruce Wayne is no longer the caped crusader once known as The Batman. Terry Mcginnis, a troubled teenager could be the one and only hope for Gotham city. When a corrupt businessman creates a nerve gas that can wipe out a city murders Terry's father, Terry heads to Bruce Wayne for help. When Bruce refuses to get back in the Batsuit to stop the criminals, Terry takes matters into his own hands and steals the Batsuit in pursuit of his father's killers. Once Bruce discovers that the batsuit is missing, he paralyzes the suit with Terry still inside. Terry has no choice but to give in and return the suit. Once Terry is free from the suit's paralysis, he convinces Bruce to let him use the suit to avenge his father and bring the criminals to justice.

Bruce Wayne sees Terry worthy of being the new Batman ans offers Terry a job to be his "ally". Terry accepts Mr. Wayne's proposal and thus, a new Batman is born in Gotham city. This my friends, is how Batman Beyond begins.
