The saga starts off with Garlic Jr. and his minions destroying a small town and laughing as they terrorize and kill innocent people. The scene breaks to Gohan swimming in a lake gathering fish for dinner and then Krillin shows up in a suit. Gohan convinces him to take a swim with him. After the swim, Krillin's girlfriend Marron comes and her and Krillen wave bye to Gohan as they get into a car together.

Meanwhile, Kami goes to see Picollo who is training with himself and asks if he would be guardian of earth when Kami leaves. Picollo refuses and warns Kami that he has been foreseeing evil. Back at Kami's lookout, Mr. Popo is watering the plants and suddenly, Garlic Jr.'s minions start flying around destroying everything. Garlic jr shows himself and Popo immediately recognizes him. Garlic Jr shrinks and traps Popo inside a small bottle.

Gohan returns home only to sneak out with his Hiya Dragon and go to the party that was being held at Roshi's house. Back at Kami's lookout, Kami returns and has a short battle with Garlic Jr. He seems to be having the upper hand until Garlic Jr's minions step in. Garlic Jr. shrinks and traps Kami inside a small bottle as he did with Popo and puts him in his pocket next to Popo. Garlic Jr gets a bottle of Aquamist and spreads it across the earth. Whoever makes contact with it will turn evil. Elsewhere, Marron and Krillin dive into a lake playfully. They are underwater the entire time the mist passes and they are not affected by it. Gohan also avoids the mist when he and his dragon fly into a hole.

Krillin and Marron return to Roshi's island and find themselves being attacked by their friends. They do not know about them being affected by the aquamist. Krillin and Marron run because they do not want to harm their friends. Then, Garlic Jrs minions show up. They tell Gohan that the only way to return everyone to normal is to get the bottle of Super Holy water from Kami's lookout and spread it around the earth to counter the aquamist. Gohan charges at the henchman but before they can beat Gohan, Picollo comes to his aid. Picollo begins to fight the minions. He gets bitten by the people at Roshi's island and he tells Gohan and Krillin to go to Kami's lookout and get the Holy Water.

Gohan and Krillen are batteling on Kami's lookout and getting hurt pretty bad. Gohan gets outraged because one of them almost kills Krillen. He poweres up and kills two minions with a masenko. He is about to attack Garlic Jr. but Garlic Jr shows him the bottles with Kami and Popo, making Gohan power down. Garlic Jr then reveals Picollo telling Gohan that he has been affected by the mist and orders him to attack Gohan. Picollo beats Gohan merciless. Krillin tries to help but Picollo bites him as well and now Krillin is affected too. They both continue to beat on Gohan. Garlic Jr orders them to stop because he wants to deliver the final blow. Picollo goes over to Garlic and snatches the bottles of Popo and Kami and tosses them to Krillin. Krillin frees Kami and Popo. Picollo tells Garlic Jr that he is already a demon and that the bite did not affect him.

Kami and Popo proceed to go spread the Holy water over earth, but they must go under the lookout where the previous kamis rest. Gohan and Krillin fight the rest of the minions and Picollo takes on Garlic Jr. Picollo has trouble because Kami is getting hurt by the ghosts of the previous Kamis and they share the pain. Gohan manages to kill the other two minions because he once again thinks that Krillin has been killed by them.

Garlic Jr. gets fed up and opens up the dead zone once again in order to suck in everyone. Gohan forms a ki shield around him and his friends to protect them form the dead zone. Meanwhile, Popo spreads the Holy water on the world while Kami distracts the guardians. Garlic Jr's dead zone pulls them up and they must grab hold of somthing to keep them from falling in.

Picollo and Krillin tell Gohan that he must destroy the Makyo Star so Garlic Jr will lose his power and fall into the dead zone. Gohan does not want to or his friends will fall into the dead zone as well. Eventually, Gohan blasts the star and destroys it, causing Garlic jr to fall inside his own dead zone, as he did before. Everyone is restored to normal thanks to the super holy water and thus, the Garlic Jr saga ends.
