Goku has been sent to the hospital because he has been injured severely in the saiyan battle. Gohan, Krillin, and Bulma prepare their journey to planet Namek to find the dragonballs. Mr Popo gives then the space ship that Kami came to Earth in. Since the space ship is operated by Namekian words, Popo teaches Bulma the basics she needs to know to fly the space ship. When everyone is prepared, they load up the ship and prepare their journey to Namek.

The Journey to Namek is going rather well. Then, a group of refugees captures their ship. The refugees think that krillin, Gohan, and Bulma are Freeza's henchman, but once they help out, they allow them to continue their journey. The earthlings think that they have landed on Planet Namek and search for the dragonballs with the help of two natives. When they gather all 7, the natives reveal themselves to be alien monsters. Krillin and Gohan break free from the aliens' trap and take Bulma to the spaceship. They leave and head for the real Planet Namek.

Vegeta heals and heads off to Planet Namek after hearing that Freeza is already on his way there. Krillin and the others are getting closer to Planet namek and they see Vegeta's space pod zooming past them. They are unaware that Freeza is already on Namek gathering up the dragonbals. Once they reach Namek, they are attacked by Freeza's scouts. Gohan and Krillin make quick work out of them. Krillin and Gohan soon learn that Freeza has aleady collected 4 dragonballs and is now terrorizing a small Namekian villiage.

Back on Earth, Goku has been healed by the help of a senzu bean. He breaks free of the bandages and heads out to train. He learns that Gohan may be in trouble on the Planet Namek and goes to Bulma's father's house on his flying Nimbus to see if the spaceship he has been working on is complete. The ship is finally restored complete with a gravity machine. It is not complete because it lacks a capuchino machine, Goku doesn't care for Capuchinno so he begins his journey to Namek with no time to waste. Equipped with senzu beans, he begins training under 20x gravity as the space ship flies in the direction of Planet Namek.

Back on Namek, Gohan and Krillin become enraged when they see Freeza and his men picking on namek children. Dodoria senses their power with his scouter. They supress their power level. Dodoria goes looking for them but finds Vegeta. Vegeta defeats Dodoria and begins his search for the dragonballs. Gohan and Krillin go back to Bulma and she informs them that Goku will arrive on namek in a few days.

Goku finds himself trapped in a meteor storm and has to go out to repair his ship. He uses his Kaio-ken technique to wipe out a gigantic meteor. He completes the repairs on the ship and heads back in to train. On Earth, Picollo and the others who dies in the Vegeta saga reach King Kai's planet for training. Back on Namek, Krillin journeys to the eldest namek with the help of Dende, a namekian child. Guru, unleashes a sleeping power within krillin and gives him a dragonball. Meanwhile, Vegeta locates Zarbon. They begin to fight and it seems that Vegeta has the upper hand. Then Zarbon transforms and apparently defeats Vegeta. Freeza orders Zarbon to get Vegeta and revive him so they can find out where he hid the dragonball. Vegeta is put inside a rejuvination tank to heal.

Once Vegeta has been healed, he steals Freeza's collected dragonballs and flees. Vegeta goes to hide the balls but senses Krillin. Unknowingly, Vegeta is being followed by Zarbon. Deep in space, Goku's training becomes more intense as he heads into a magnetic energy field which causes his gravity machine to go up to 100x gravity. Back on Namek, Zarbon challenges Vegeta and this time, Vegeta kills Zarbon. Vegeta then takes the dragonball from Krillin and heads off to where he left the other balls. Vegeta runs into Gohan who has found the dragonball that Vegeta previously had hidden. Gohan gets away with the dragonball without Vegeta suspecting a thing.

Krillin and Gohan head over to Guru in hopes that he can make Gohan stronger. During this time, Freeza has summoned the Ginyu force to gather the dragonballs that were stolen from him. As Krillin and Gohan fly towards Guru, Vegeta is on their tail. Krillin stalls Vegeta so Gohan can get powered up by Guru. Gohan has been powerd up and heads over to Krillin and Vegeta. The Ginyu force nears Namek and Gohan and Krillin make a truce with Vegeta so they can defeat the Ginyu force. Meanwhile Goku has mastered 100x gravity and is ready for battle. He shower and rests as he heads closer to Namek. The Ginyu force lands on Namek.
