Krillin, Yamucha, Tien, and Chaotsu have been called forth by Kami for special training. They are taken to the look out to prepare for the battle with the saiyans. Yajirobi and Kami lead them into the room of spirit and time. The warriors fight with saiyans of the past.

Goku begins his journey to King Kai's planet. He journeys on snake way, a long road which leads to the North Kaio's planet. Halfway there, Goku falls off and ends up in hell. The ogres of hell tell Goku that if he can catch them, then they will show him the way out of hell.

The Ogres are surprised to see that Goku is not an ordinary person, he ends up winning the race. The Ogre takes Goku to the secret passage out of snke way, but Goku secretly snatched a piece of fruit from King Yemma's tree. As the Ogre's watch Goku head out of hell, they laugh because Goku is going to have to start from the beginning of snake way. Goku is now alot faster because of the fruit and heads to King Kai's.

Meanwhile, Gohan's intense training continues. Picollo has left him alone to survive in the wild. He actually does pretty well. One night, Gohan looks at a full man and transforms into Oozaru. Gohan, now not aware of his actions, battles picollo and causes damage all around him. Picollo figures out that the source is the moom, so he blows up the moon. Gohan reverts back to normal. Picollo gives Gohan an outfit that looks like his dad's but with his symbol on it and a z sword, he conjures it out of thin air.

Back on snake way, Goku find the house of Princess Snake. Princess Snake provides Goku with great hospitality. She feeds him and he rests there. But when it is time to go, she transforms into a snake and tries to devour Goku. Goku defeats her and continues on his journey to Kaio's planet.

The other Z-fighters continue to train on their own to prepare for the battle. Krillin goes his way to train with master Roshi. Tien and Chaotsu train together as usual. Yamucha decides to go his way to train. They all split up and decide to meet on the battlefield when the saiyans arrive.

Back in the wild, Gohan and Picollo begin their training together. They fight head to head. Picollo pushes Gohan because he knows of the hidden power that is inside of him. They keep getting it on throughout their training.

Goku finally reaches the end of snake way and arrives on King Kai's planet. To start the training, King Kai demands for Goku to make him laugh first. Once Goku accomplishes this, the first stage of the training is to catch Bubbles the monkey, since King Kai's planet is 10x normal earth's gravity, this excercise will help Goku withstand the gravity. Goku catches Bubbles and then King Kai gives him the next exercise, to hit Gregory the cricket over the head with a hammer that is really heavy. Goku has trouble holding the hammer at first, once he gets the hang of it, he completes the task. Now Goku is ready to commcence the real training. King Kai teaches Goku the Kaioken technique and also how to form a spirit bomb.

A year passes by back on earth and the dragonballs have been gathered. It is time to summon the Dragon and wish Goku back to life. Goku has completed his training on King Kai's planet. He mastered both the spirit bomb and kaioken. He is now faster and stronger. The wish is made and the halo disappears from Goku. Now he begins his journey to earth.
