News and Updates

Two words: domain name. I regisered the domain www.aquaviann.com through www.register.com in February. Unfortunately, there was a big, ugly, permanent banner on the bottom of the page, and the hosting would cost more than I have to spare. Two days ago I got www.aquavian.com from www.doteasy.com, and things are working out great! I'm using FTP for the first time and having a blast. If you ever want to get yourself a domain name, I highly recommend doteasy.com.

Recently, some of you have been asking why I don't update this site. Let me say that if I do update it, it won't be on www.angelfire.com anymore. This site has been a great host for several of my pages. I have never lost one bit of code (unless I myself accidentally deleted it) and have found that this site's servers are reliable. I am moving up in the world of the internet, but I never could have gotten started if not for angelfire, and for that I am grateful.

Woohoo! My sites aren't gone! I'm so happy! I guess www.manifest-angel.com was just taking a little rest. How paranoid was I to find my two other sites unreachable for a while. Fortunately, that's all over. My project as of now is .never fear. which I suppose is the 2.0 version of the one listed below. This one has frames (frames, I say!) and is sort of an experimental thing with me. It's looking pretty good so far, so check it out if you get the time or attention span.

Hola everyone! If you have been keeping up with this site, it may have come to your attention that it has hardly changed in almost a year. That's because I've been off doing other projects, playing Asheron's Call (thus meeting several incredible people there), and most recently learning the art of frames in a mere 3 hours. My second and third most recent projects were hosted by www.manifest-angel.com. That site and several other affiliated hosts bit the dust yesterday, and I suspect I lost two whole websites...

The Fallen

Neo-Mega - My poetry collective and the small beginnings of my Asheron's Call screenshot gallery.

Fearless - Opinions, art gallery and a listing of my sites.

My losses were, fortunately, rather small. Neither site was over 1MB. However, a 6 month period of my webmistressing development is most likely lost like a sock in the cosmic dryer and there ain't a damn thing I can do about it.

So, you ask, why have you come back to this site after all of that? Well...through it all, this site has stayed put. The counter hit 1k just after I graduated from high school. The counter hit 2k while I was in my first semester of college. This site has been a friggin' rock of stability in the tornado of my life. The background has remained cool_til.gif (from angelfire's free background gallery) and the text colors have remained true to their funky hues. The small Esca and Sailor Moon galleries have stayed in working order. This site and its code has survived, impervious to the instability of the matrix in which it lives.

Know what? I'm not gonna change this. I'm going to add to the content, but I refuse to fix the layout. The religion of 'center-everything' will still be preached here and the links page will remain one huge mess. This is a freeze frame of my HTML knowledge as of March of 2000. For that I would like to thank www.angelfire.com, and my mom for buying me a computer for Christmas, 1999. The internet has had a huge impact in my life and I imagine that perhaps, if we go the way of the dinosaurs, somehow the databases will take care of themselves and our sites will remain - pixellated artifacts of our civilization's progress and our own personal progress as individuals.

Or maybe I'm just full of shit, but no one can ever say I wasn't a romantic.
