I DO IT FOR YOU. by Kaz. (Rating NC17)

Part One.

Beth stormed through the door slamming it hard behind her. Spike was
barely over the doorstep when it hit him. He booted it back open again
with such force one of the hinges snapped.

"I'm not going to tell you again............" he yelled. "You've got
to
stop this bloody crusade!.....You're going to get sodding killed!" He
slammed his fist into the wall. His game face fell into place and he
roared with anger.

Beth glared at him. "Stop wrapping me in cotton wool!" she yelled
back. "Don't tell me what I can and can't do.....................who
the hell do you think you are?"

He moved so quickly she had no time to dodge as he grabbed her by the
shoulders. His fingers dug painfully into her flesh but she was too
angry to notice it much. His eyes flamed brilliant yellow and he bared
his fangs. The chip in his brain hummed softly but he did not feel any
pain. He'd found that out the first time they had fought. For some
reason, it knew he wouldn't harm her. How did it know that? Even he
wasn't sure of it!

She slapped him across the face and he slapped her back. "You
bastard!"
she yelled, more shocked than hurt. She brought her knee up hard
between his legs and he crumpled into a heap, yelping. She stepped
over
him and rushed into the bedroom, slamming the door behind her.

Spike slowly and painfully picked himself up. "Bloody women!" he
cursed. He was tempted to follow her, but thought better of it. He
found his was to the sofa and carefully sat down. His human face fell
back into place, and the pain between his legs was beginning to dull.
He lit a cigarette and a tiny smile crept onto his lips. Despite his
defeat he had certainly enjoyed that little bit of domestic violence,
apart from the knee bringing it to an abrupt end. No one could say
their relationship was boring.

He glanced round the room. They had moved into this basement apartment
six months ago. Beth had not been impressed with the Crypt. It was no
place to hole up in permanently. "There's no shower, no running
water........well, except for down the walls!" she complained. Good
point!

He wanted her with him all the time, not just in bed, although they
seemed to spend more thim in it than anywhere else.

Giles had not been happy about their pairing, but he reluctantly
accepted it. He made it clear that he did not want Spike sleeping
under
his roof. "Well, sleeping might not be the right word!" Spike smirked
to himself, taking another drag of his cigarette before snubbing it out
in the ashtray.

It was nearly dawn and he rose to check the thick blinds were all down.
It wouldn't do for him to burst into flames would it?

His smile faded and he made his way to the bedroom. He opened the door
slowly and stepped inside. He ducked just in time as the clock came
flying across the room.

Beth lay on the bed her eyes red from crying. She reached over to pick
up another object to throw. He leapt on top of her and pinned her arms
above her head. She only struggled for a moment then her muscles
relaxed. He released his grip and her arms went round his neck.

"I'm sorry, love." she whispered, hugging him to her. He wrapped his
arms round her waist and rolled them both onto their sides. She
nestled
her face against his chest and sobbed softly against him. He stroked
her hair and kissed her tenderly on the forehead.

"I know you're right." she continued. "But I can't help it. It's like
an addiction...............I'm turning into a monster."

"No, you're not!" he growled. "You're not like me.......I'm the monster
in this bloody relationship. Beth, pet, you know they'll turn the
bloody tables one day. They'll take you away from me.......then
what'll
I do?" he whispered.

If his heart had been beating, it would have stopped at that moment.
Where would he be? His very nature, one of pleasure in inflicting
torture, pain and death, the demon that drove him on to suck the life
out of anything living, had been subdued by the love he had for this
woman. She tamed the monster, the demon, the vampire.
He still loved the violence that surrounded them whenever they went out
on a patrol. She had insisted they help Buffy and the gang if they
were
needed.

But lately, she had taken it on herself to go looking for a fight.
That
scared him. He clutched her to him and waited for her to stop crying.

When she did, and her slightly bloodshot, beautiful blue-green eyes
looked up at him, he cupped her chin in his hand and kissed her.

She returned his kiss with such a passion it still surprised him. How
could she love him, knowing what he was? She moaned softly,
seductively.

She wanted him so badly, even more than the first time they had made
love. That day, nearly a year ago, when she had charged through the
locked crypt door and had not really known if he would kill her when he
had pinned her against the wall and wanted to suck her dry.

She broke the kiss and smiled at him. "I'll try to stop this
stupidity." she whispered, running her fingers along his cheek.

"Now, make love to me, you sexy vampire you!" she grinned.

He was delighted to oblige.

             ****************

His vampire senses told him it was around noon. 'just as well I've got
a sense of time,' he smiled to himself. 'seening as how someone broke
the clock.'

Her warm body pressed against him, her arms loosely round his waist.
Her face wore a frown and she talked in her sleep. "No!" she
whimpered. "He's mine,..............Spike..............you
can't......." she began to fidget and tense. Suddenly her eyes flicked
open.

He cuddled her. "It's ok, pet. Just a dream." he reassured her. Her
eyes focused on him and she smiled. "Good morning." she breathed
sleepily and kissed him.

Spike rolled onto his back then sat up. "Come on, you lazy sod." he
scolded playfully patting her backside. "I might not be able to enjoy
the sun, but that's no excuse for you to miss the whole day!" he
laughed. She nodded and scrambled out of bed, walking naked towards
the bathroom. He stared after her. He loved seeing her like that.

He waited until he could hear the shower running, then jumped out of
bed
pulling on his clothes. He picked up the telephone. He hesitated for
a moment then dialed. After what seemed like an age, someone answered.

"It's me.........................no, she's fine,....well sort of." he
reassured the voice on the other end. "Look, you wanker. I told you,
she's ok......but we do need to talk......................no, not here,
I'll meet you at the Magic Shop..................yeah, right
now............." He put the receiver down and cursed. "Bloody
prick!" he growled. He pulled on his boots quickly as she came out of
the bathroom wrapped in a towel.

"You going somewhere?" she asked. "The sun is up, you know." He
grinned at her as he picked up his 'favourite' blanket.

"Never stopped me before. Besides, sewer systems are pretty
handy.....Won't be long, just gotta, um.........get something." She
eyed him quizzically then shrugged her shoulders. He was always on the
go. "Place to go, people to eat." he always joked.

               ********************* ******************

Giles paced up and down nervously. Anya was trying to sell a love
potion to a very plump, not at all attractive, middle-aged man.
"Believe me, its powerful enough, even for you!" she chirped. The man
looked insulted but placed the $20 on the counter. "OK, but its a bit
pricey!" he grumbled.

Anya bagged the phial of blue liquid and rang the money into the cash
register. As the man left with his purchase she fondled the money
lovingly. "Oh, Giles." she exclaimed. "I just love the feel of all
this cash. It's so erotic!" she gushed. Giles smiled at her
half-heartedly.

He had been on edge the second he heard Spike's voice on the phone.
'Had something happened to Beth?' he thought. He didn't like Spike at
all and was convinced his sister would come to harm with him. Having
said that, he had never seen her as happy these past months, well, not
since Ben. He may not like Spike, but he had a grudging respect for th
bleached blonde vampire these days. Spike loved Beth, that he couldn't
deny.

The shop door burst open as Spike ran in, blanket on fire. He rushed
to
the back of the shop flinging it to the ground and stamping on it to
put
out the flames.

Giles turned to him expecting to be met with that infuriating smug grin
and a sarcastic comment. What he saw shocked him. Spike's face looked
serious. He looked like he hadn't slept in weeks. Something was
definitely wrong. It couldn't be Beth, he told him on the phone she
was
fine! Or was he lying to him?

"Like I said, Ripper, we need to talk.............privately." Spike
said
finally, glancing at Anya's shocked expression.

Giles pointed to the office. Spike had barely entered the room when
Giles slammed the door behind him. "Whats wrong!" he demanded. "You
said she was ok...........what have you..........." Giles blurted out,
but Spike stopped him. "She is!.......well, physically anyway!"

"What do you mean?"

Spike sank onto the chair and, head in hands, placed his elbows on the
desk.
"She's getting totally fucking crazy." he stated.

He told Giles about her vendetta against the creatures that frequented
the hell-mouth. Giles took off his glasses and cleaned them. "She's
always been a hunter......" he said.

Spike slammed his fists on the table. "I'm not talking 'protect the
fucking innocent' you pratt! I'm talking 'lets go out and pick a
sodding fight and slay the sodding entire unholy population!
...............She's not hunting my kind.........." he paused. Giles
waited for Spike to continue. "She's taking on every bloody demon she
can track down. She's been sneaking out at night for god knows how
long............it's got to the point where I don't sleep
anymore.......I just pretend, so I can follow her!............She's
going to get herself killed!" His anger rose and his eyes began to
flicker from blue-grey to yellow.

He stared at Giles for a moment. "You don't like me, and I can't
fucking stand you.....but we've got to do something about this!" he
yelled.

PART TWO.

Buffy cursed the bitter wind. It wasn't bad enough that she had to
miss
yet another night's sleep, how many was that, three nights in a row?
She was cold and her leg hurt where her last conquest had hit her with
a
very large tree branch. 'Good job I don't bruise easily.' she thought.

The cemetary seemed quiet enough now though. Suddenly her Slayer
senses
kicked in. Something was out there. "Vampire" she told herself.

She automatically raised the stake in her hand and fell into a fighting
stance. The bushes parted to her left and she spun round.

"Hope you're not planning on using that on me, Slayer." he said
mockingly.

"Spike! What are you doing lurking about...........you on your own?"
she chided.

Spike raised his hands and looked round him. "Well, if you don't count
a couple of my old drinking buddies hanging about just up the road." he
grinned. "If you mean Beth, I got her to stay home tonight. Willow's
keeping her company." The grin fell from his face. "Thought I'd take
a
bit of a stroll."

A voice erupted behind them. "Well, well. If it isn't my old buddy,
Spike..........one hot woman not enough for you? Your girlfriend not
putting out, so you tryin' to pull the Slayer?" it cackled.

They turned to face a group of vampires, six in all, game faces on and
obviously looking for a fight. 'Stupid Slayer senses." Buffy cursed.
'Only work when they want to!" Spike's face rippled and changed. He
would be only too happy to accomodate them.

Neither side moved for a moment. "Hello, Slade." spat Spike. "Can't
say its a pleasure,.........not yet anyway!" he growled.

"So where's the slut?" Slade growled back. Spike took a step forward,
his demon urging him to strike. Slade continued. "Oh, sore point,
eh?"
he grinned. "What's the matter, blondie, can't give her
enough?...........Well, lets see, we can finish you and your little
Slayer friend here, then go round and show her a real good
time......shag her senseless, then have a real good drink!"

Spike's fist slammed into his face. "You don't touch her!" he yelled.
The others raced forward and Buffy went into action.

She planted a turning kick on one of them, landing just in time to
punch
another in the face. Spike pounded into Slade knocking him a good five
yards into the undergrowth. He grabbed another of them and tore his
throat out before staking him.

Buffy was grabbed from behind. She flung her head back viciously and
broke the vampire's nose. Before the pain of the break registered, she
spun round and staked him.

She and Spike stood back to back. 'Just like old times.' she thought.
She would rather have Spike watching her back than anyone else.

The other three rushed at them as Slade broke through the bushes.
Buffy
ducked as a fist came at her. Her stake hit the target and the dust
swirled round her in the breeze. Spike grabbed the other two by the
necks and slammed their heads together. He pulled a hunting knife from
his belt and sliced through the air. The vampire's head bounced from
his body and once again the dust swirled round their legs. Buffy side
kicked the other one and pounced on him. More dust!

She leapt to her feet to see Spike lunging at Slade.

The two vampires rolled around the wet grass with Spike pummelling into
Slades face. He raised the knife and plunged it repeatedly into his
body. There was blood everywhere. Slade struggled to fend off the
blows, but Spike was blinded by rage.
"I'm gonna kill you slow!" he yelled. "You fucking wanker..........you
won't touch her...................you bastard!" He continued to plunge
the knife into the now semi-conscious vampire.

"Spike!" Buffy shouted, slinging him to the ground. "That's enough!"
She staked Slade as Spike jumped to his feet. He rushed at her, aiming
a kick at her. She swatted his leg away and he slumped to his knees in
agony. He dropped the knife and clutched his head.

Buffy punched him in the face, knocking him backwards. "Get a grip,
fangboy!" she yelled at him. "The old chip still works then! Serves
you right!" she gloated.

She dragged him up by his arm, noting his human face was now back,
contorted in pain. "You look a real mess!" she scowled. His jacket
and face were splattered with Slade's blood and a nasty bruise was
forming under his right eye. "You look like a train wreck."

"Piss off." he muttered back.

"You can't go home like that, we'll go get you cleaned up!" she sighed,
dragging him away from the battlefield.

             ***************
*******************

They reached Giles' house soon after. Buffy couldn't take the
dishevelled vampire to her house, her mother would have a fit! Not
that
she didn't like Spike, she just didn't like the sight of blood. 'And
theres plenty of that!' she thought. She looked at him. He was being
unusually quiet. What happened to the sarcastic comments?

Giles answered the door. "I couldn't track it, Ripper." spoke Spike
quietly. Giles looked at him with a sense of dread. Spike saw his
expression. "No........its ok, she's at home!" Spike tried to
reassure
him.

Giles tensed even more. "You left her alone........after what we
discussed this afternoon?"

Buffy interrupted. "Oh,.......no, Willow's with her. Its only 10.30
so
she won't have left yet..............Anyway, unless you like little red
spots over your nice clean house, maybe Spike can go clean up? He
can't
go back like that!" she snorted.

"Are you injured?" sniffed. Giles. Spike shook his head. "It's not
my
blood." he muttered. "It's not human either!" he added quickly. Giles
stepped out of his way to allow him to head for the bathroom.

Buffy looked puzzled. Since when did Giles and Spike get together for
discussions? Name calling and arguments, maybe but actually sitting
down and talking? And what did Spike mean by 'I couldn't track it'
track what? She knew something was seriously not right. "Ok!" she
muttered. "What's going on, Giles?"

           *******************
***********************

Giles had listened quietly as the vampire raged on. He had uneasy
feeling in the pit of his stomach, but he was sure yet what it was.

"I don't know why she's doing it." he ranted. "Has she got some kind
of
bloody death wish? Is it something I've done?....... I love her,
Ripper......What the fuck is she playing at?" Spike smashed his fist
right through the table, and slumped back on to the stool.

At that moment, Giles felt sorry for the bleached blonde. He knew
Spike
loved her. It was obvious he was at his wits end. He mulled over what
he had been told, and the pieces fell into place with a sickening thud.

"It's nothing you,ve done..........but I think she may be doing it
because of you!" he whispered.

Spike tensed. His game face on in an instant and he began to rise from
his seat, anger almost blinding him.

Giles held up his hands. "Calm down. I don't mean it like that."
The
vampire relaxed a little. Giles shook his head slowly. "Has she ever
told you about Ben?"
Spike nodded. "She said he was killed by a demon.........a Helix, I
think."

Giles' knuckles turned white as he clenched his fists. He was almost
certain now his thoughts were running on the right track.

Spike continued. "I think she still has nightmares. They've been a lot
more frequent lately."

Giles took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, forcing himself to loosen
up. "She nearly died, you know." "I know!" whispered Spike.

Giles watched as the vampire's human face reappeared, the anguished
look
settling on the fine chistled features. "She blamed herself for it.
She said she could have tried harder, moved faster, done something to
prevent it. Utter rubbish. They were taken by surprise, thats all."

Spike growled impatiently. "I know all that, you pratt." he grunted.
"What's that got to do with me?"

Giles took off his glasses again and rubbed his forehead. "She's
deeply
in love with you.........I think more than she ever loved Ben.....and
that was deep!" Giles waited for Spike to comment, but he just sat
there. Giles continued. "There have been sightings..........a Helix
has moved into the area. We haven't found out where it is yet, but my
bet would be the same old place, the cemetary. They're pretty strong,
stronger than you, I think."

Spike sprang to his feet, knocking the chair over. So that was it!
"She's hunting it down!" he gasped.

Giles sighed. "She's keeping it away from you!" he stated bluntly.

Spike strode towards the door. "Not if I can kill it first!" he
growled.

                    *************
*******************

Spike came back down the stairs. He had managed to wipe the blood
from
his jacket and his skin, but his shirt was stiff with the stuff as it
dried out. 'Good job it's black. She may not realise what it is.' he
thought. As he reached the bottom step he heard Giles talking on the
telephone. "Calm down, Willow. We'll be right over."
then he hung up.

Giles looked across at him. "We've got problems." he stated. "Willow
says Beth told her she was going for a walk. When she tried to stop
her, Beth knocked her out and left."

Spike was already out of the door. Giles and Buffy were hot on his
heels. He raced to the red sports car and yanked the door off its
hinges. "Keys!" he yelled at Giles. Giles tossed them to him as the
three of them piled in. He drove like a maniac straight to the
cemetary.

PART THREE.

Beth was sharing a beer with Willow when she felt it. It was waiting
for her, and for her beloved Spike. She knew it.

She dropped the bottle and headed for the door. Willow jumped to her
feet and blocked her way. "Hold it!" she called. "I know I have a
tendency to ramble on,"
she chuckled. "But no-one's ever walked out on me before!"

Beth stared at her friend, her eyes distant and haunted. "I have to
go..........." she said.

Willow grabbed her arm. "No.....Spike said I should keep you here."

Beth pulled away from her. "I......I have to do this.......I'm sorry
Willow.....I can't let it take him from me.......not this time!" She
smashed her fist into Willow's jaw sending her sprawling across the
room, unconscious. She blinked away the tears that were welling up in
her eyes and picked up the weapons bag she kept by the door, and left.

                 *****************
*******************

At the edge of the cemetary she opened the bag and took out a couple of
stakes which she slipped into her trouser pocket, a flashlight, and a
double headed axe.
The moon was full tonight, but the flashlight would come in handy.

As she edged along the narrow path, she could smell it's foul stench.
He was there. She knew it's scent. She looked about her furtively. As
she panned the flashlight around the shadows of the tree-line something
shiny lying in the wet grass caught her eye. As she drew closer, she
could see it was a hunting knife, coated with thick black blood. Her
breath caught in her throat and her heart leapt up to meet it. It was
his knife! She knelt down to pick it up and noticed the ground wasn't
just wet, but sticky. She dabbed her hand in the grass and held it up
to the light. Blood!

She shone the beam along the ground. So much blood! She ran her
tongue
along her blood soaked palm. It tasted metallic. She wanted a hole to
open up and swallow her at that moment. 'Vampire blood.' her mind told
her.

"No!..." she sobbed. "Not Spike, not Spike!"

All manner of things ran through her mind. ' He's playing a sick joke
on
me! '
'He's hurt, but not bad.' she shook her head. 'no.' she thought. 'If
he
was hurt, he would try to get back to her.'

She began to giggle insanely, then the tears began to run down her
cheeks. It WAS his knife. She had bought it him after he lost the one
Angelus had given him years ago. If he had been able to move away from
here, he would not have left the weapon!

She put her hand to her throat and touched the necklace he had given
her. Her protection from vampires. She always wore it when they were
patrolling, but never at home.........she never needed protection from
him. She heard a cry, and realised it was hers. "Spike.........don't
leave me..........." she sobbed.

A rustling in the trees snapped her mind back into focus. Rage flooded
through her. She knew it was him......Helix! She rose to her feet,
clutching Spike's knife in one hand, the axe in the other.

It broke through the trees, a jet black hulking grotesque figure, arms
as thick as her waist, each ending in long, razor sharp talons on each
of its six fingers. Razor sharp, powerful, deadly.

Beth clutched her stomach for a second, remembering the agony when a
creature like this one had sliced across her like she was tissue paper.
She saw Ben, ripped nearly in half, his ribs ripped through his
chest............And Spike! She imagined Spike, torn and bleeding,
yellow eyes glazed in shock and surprise as the creature either pierced
his heart or cut off his head, then a thick grey dust exploding into
the
night.

Her brain switched to automatic and, raising the weapons high, she
charged at the beast, shrieking like a banshee.

The axe blow caught the creature by surprise. It hit him smack in the
middle of his chest and a grey blue slime-like blood spewed from the
wound. He roared in pain and swung his powerful arms at her. She
threw
herself out of his reach, then charged him again.

The axe again found a target. One hand was severed and a fountain of
of
blood cascaded over her. She ducked as he slashed at her with his
remaining talons and she plunged Spike's knife deep into his belly.

The creature roared again, almost deafening her. His bloody stump
swiped
at her throwing her clear across the grass, slamming her into a
tombstone. She struggled to get to her feet, her head swimming. She
fought to stay conscious.

The creature was coming for her. It was bleeding profusely and the
injuries she had inflicted slowed it down considerably.

"You bastard!" she screamed. Adrenhilin flooded her system, sheer
hatred filled every cell and she managed to stand. "You killed
him..............Spike......!"

Her weapons were gone. All she had left were the stakes in her pocket.
She pulled one out noting it had blood on the tip. She felt her leg
and
realised it had stabbed into her when she fell.

She raised the puny piece of wood and prepared herself for the
creature's onslaught. It was wounded, but not nearly enough to stop it
from attacking. It lumbered towards her..............

                  ****************
***************

The world slowed down to a crawl. Everything was in slow motion. She
felt like she was dreaming and saw someone leap onto the creature's
back, cutting deep into it's throat. Blood bubbled and gushed from
the
thrashing creatures neck, then it fell to the floor motionless.

The dizziness was getting worse and she could barely focus. The figure
was running towards her. The moon reflected off a mass of blonde hair
and she could see the glowing yellow eyes and contorted face
glistening,
rippling and changing. The features softened, then the eyes grew
darker. Her legs began to give way, and she fell.............straight
into his arms. She clutched at his leather jacket breathing in his
scent. "Spike!.............you're alive!" she whispered. He smiled.
"Well, not technically speaking, pet!" he smirked.

Others were running towards her as she held him so close, if he had
needed to breathe, he wouldn't be able to.

                **************** ******************

He took her home, insisting everybody leave. Giles started to object,
but Spike just grinned at him. "Sod off! I'll take care of her." he
grunted. Giles found himself smiling back. "I know you will!" he said
sincerely. "I know you will!"

Spike closed the door on the world and turned to her.

"You bloody stink!" he joked. She smiled at him wearily.

"Come on, its the shower for you, you daft bugger." he said helping her
up.

She stood under the warm soothing water her senses returning. She
watched him as he kicked off his boots and flung the bloody shirt off.
"You'll be bloody black and blue in the morning, pet." he clucked. He
moved towards her and touched her leg.
"That little scratch shouldn't cause too much trouble." She smiled at
him and reached for his hand. "Come here!" she said huskily. He
didn't need telling twice. He stepped into the cubicle behind her and
put his arms around her waist. He ran his hands over her body, soft
and
soapy.

Then his anger bubbled to the surface. The water soaked through his
jeans and he shook her. "What the hell did you think you were doing!"
he demanded. The familiar yellow gleam appeared in his eyes and his
fangs dropped. He wanted to smack her bloody silly for doing
this...............no, he wanted to cover her in kisses.
She turned and hugged him. Her warm breasts heating his bare chest.

She ran her hands down his back and squeezed his buttocks. "If I were
you, I'd take those wet clothes off." she whispered seductively in his
ear. She moved her hands round and undid them for him. He kicked them
off and she lead him to the bedroom. She pushed him onto the bed and
covered him in kisses.

His anger was gone, and all he could think of was her. Her burning
lips
were exploring every inch of him and he groaned loudly. She kissed his
erection and giggled. "I take it you're not made at me anymore then!"
she teased. She straddled him and slowly lowered herself onto him,
swaying. He arched his back and pulled her closer. His hips rising to
meet her every move. "Spike." she breathed.

He gripped her hips and flipped her onto her back. He smothered her
face and neck with kisses, their bodies moving in time. He felt her
muscles contract and gazed into her eyes, smugly. They were glassy,
hazy and she moaned loudly as he took her over the edge. He flicked
his
head back and moaned with her. His game face on he lowered his head
and
sank his fangs deep into her neck, tasting her ravenously.

EPILOGUE

He woke in the early afternoon and kissed the twin punctures on her
neck. He lay there listening to the steady beat of her heart, and felt
her warm breath gently waft across his chest.

He hadn't taken too much from her. Just enough to send her into the
most powerful orgasm she had ever had. It would have been so easy, to
easy, to drink all of her in. She had begged him not to stop.

"No love, not yet." he whispered. He loved her as she was. Warm,
passionate, alive in every sense of the word. He wanted her forever,
though.

He knew the day would come when he would turn her, make her like him,
rather than lose her.

But not just yet.

THE END.
