INSIDE WILD
Willow's lungs inflated with each studdering breathe she took.
She had stayed at the library far too long and she knew it. Buffy and
the others had gone home assuming she would be leaving
before dusk and
she didn't want to call and wake them at 2am to come and walk her home.
It just seemed silly.....at the time. Now she was thouroughly
regretting not having called Buffy. Even if the
slayer were half
awake, she would still have been there, but now, here she stood, ten
feet from the doors of the library and nearly two miles to walk
home. She was stupid. She was just now figuring
that in her mind.
Willow let out a small screech as she felt a cool hand grasp
her bare arm. Spinning quickly she bopped who or whatever it was
over the head before gasping and starting her studdering appologies.
"Spike, don't ever scare me like that again!" she hissed at
the blond vampire who was now checking his head for any signs of
bleeding.
"Well, I saw you out here. Bloody hell, pet! Did you have to
go and do that! Now look! I got a bloody bump on my head, demons are
gonna be asking about it and I'll have to say another fight with the
slayer." Willow rolled her eyes at his good-natured banter. She knew
he was teasing her. He had been doing that alot lately.
"Spike, what do you want?" she asked, interupting the
still whining vampire.
Spike stopped talking and glanced down at the girl. "Just wanted
to know what you were doing out here all alone and might I say very
unescorted. Where is that bloody unfriend of a slayer
of yours? Shouldn't
she be here now, walking you home, protecting you from us terrible
baddies? You know you look very bitable tonight and anyone could
take advantage of that." he said.
"Buffy isn't here. I got out really late and I didn't want to
have to wake her up from her sleep. It's the first she's had in a
while and she didn't really need to come all the way out here just
to walk me home because I felt, I repeat felt, not feel, that I
was capable of walking myself home but now-
wait....I look
bitable? What is that supposed to mean?" she asked stopping her
own babbling before he could.
"What? Oh, nothing. Just that here you are, your neck all
open and pale and....hmm. Damn!" Spike cursed suddenly grabbing his head.
Willow's hand immediatly went to her neck and she pointed one
finger out at him from her other hand. "You were thinking about
biting me! Oh, that is so not good!" she moaned backing
slightly away.
Spike rolled his eyes and groaned, glancing back up at her,
his eyes suddenly going wide. "Willow-"
"NO! You were thinking of biting me and draining my blood.
That's a bad bad thing. Very bad thing-"
"Willow! Behind you!" Spike yelled out through her scolding.
Willow turned to see a vampire right in front of her and barely
got a scream out as he tackled her to the ground, his fangs going to
her throat. Willow closed her eyes in anticipation of the pain that
was sure to flow throughout her body at any minute.
Suddenly the pain was gone and dust was flying all around. She
felt a sharp pain in her back and gasped as blood flowed out from the
new wound. Opening her eyes, she realized that the vampire not only
had fangs but had come prepared with a knife as well if she were
uncooperative. He had lashed out at her as he was falling, getting
in his assurance that if he was going to die, she would too.
Willow heard her name in the distance and blurry eyes looked over
at Spike concerned and kneeling over her, holding her on his lap.
"Pet! Willow, come on....no...come on, pet, wake up...NO! Don't
fall asleep!" he growled at the smell of her blood. Listening carefully
he started to panic as he realized that her pulse was slowing down
rapidly and skipping it's beat every few seconds. Looking around for
any help and realizing that there was none, Spike looked back down
at the beautiful young redhead slowly dying in his arms.
"Forgive me, Willow." he whispered and sliced his wrist open,
pressing the steady flow of blood to her mouth and forcing her
throat to swallow enough before her heart beat for the last time.
"Please forgive me." he murmered before lifting her into his arms
and carrying her to the crypt.
