Lilies

*********************************************************************

Spike walked the streets of Sunnydale with the Scooby Gang.
They had all agreed to go see Giles' gig this weekend and had pulled
Spike along to keep and eye on him. Giles had told
them about a
young woman he was doing a duet with. She had come to town two days
ago and her apartment had burnt down the first and she had lost all
of her belongings. Giles had found her in the park crying and after
a talk with her to get aquianted he offered that she could stay
with him until she found a new place ot live and got back on her feet.
She could earn money for now by singing with him. She was origionally
going to do thursday night gigs at the coffee house, but all of her
equiptment was ruined.

Her name was Lilith Waters. She was an 19 yr. old from L.A.
Strangely enough she had met Angel and Cordelia through a vision.
Her life was just full of bad luck. Her parents had been killed in
a car crash and her foster parents attacked in their house as a
late night meal for vampires a week before she moved. Angel had found
her running from them and had taken her in for a few
days, till she
decided to leave.

The Scooby gang made their way in, Spike in tow, mumbling
and grumbling to himself about why he was here and if he had his bite
back, the damage he could do.

"Listen! That's them! I can hear them! Wow, their good!"
Willow said making her way toward to room.

The others had to agree, the voice that flowed out to them
from the woman was quite beautiful.

*Know this child will be gifted
*With love with patience and with faith
*Know this child will make her way
	*Oooooh, I believe
	*Fate smiled at destiny
*Laughed as she came to my cradle
*Know this child will be able
*Laughed as she came to my mother
*Know this child will not suffer
*Laughed as my body she left it
*Know this child will be gifted
*With love with patience and with faith!
	*She'll make her way!!!

Spike had to agree dispite his minds protests that the voice
was very pretty. The song ended just as the group rounded the corner
and stood against the back wall. The others looked on
carefully, looking
the new girl over.

She was tall and skinny, but had a small muscular build
to her. She was wearing a long black skirt with tiny imprints of white
flowers on it and a blue halter that exposed her middrift,
lending a veiw of her stomach ring. She also wore what could be
classified as Cordelia pumps. She had long brown hair, streaked with
very light blond streaks. Her blue eyes peirced the crowd and her
smile could kill. She leaned over and spoke in Giles ear and he
nodded, starting to play the next song. The group was a bit suprise by
her selection, but intrigued as well.

*Please baby can't you see my mind's a running hell
*I've got races a rippin and tearing and scrapin my heart
apart as well,
*Tonight ya told me that you ache for something else
*and some other woman is lookin like something that might be
good for you,

She was really getting into the song, closing her eyes to
concentrate, moving to the music. A small smile playing on her lips
as she enjoyed the song.

*Go on and hold her till this feeling is gone
*go one believe her when she tells ya nothings wrong
*but I'm the only one who'd walk across the fire for you
*and I'm the only one who'd drown in my desire for you
*This only fear that makes you run
*The demon that your hiding from
*When all your promises are one
	*I"m the only one!!
*Please baby can't you see I'm trying to explain
*I've been here before and I'm locking the door and I'm
not going back again
*Her eyes and arms and skin won't make it go away
*You'll wake up tomorrow and wrestle the sorrow that
holds you down today
*Go on and hold her till this feeling is gone
*go one believe her when she tells ya nothings wrong
*but I'm the only one who'd walk across the fire for you
*and I'm the only one who'd drown in my desire for you
*This only fear that makes you run
*The demon that your hiding from
*When all your promises are one
	*I"m the only one!!

Giles started the interlude of music as Lilith swayed to the
music, her eyes still closed. She was humming softly with the music.

*Go on and hold her till this feeling is gone
*go one believe her when she tells ya nothings wrong
*but I'm the only one who'd walk across the fire for you
*and I'm the only one who'd drown in my desire for you
*This only fear that makes you run
*The demon that your hiding from
*When all your promises are one
	*I"m the only one!!
*And I'm the only who'd drown in my desire for you.

The song ended softly and the crowd burst into cheers. Spike
leaned back against the wall, lighting up a cigarette. Giles and
Lilith stood and made their way over to the group. Lilith smiled
brightly as she greeted them all.

	"Giles..introduction?"Buffy urged.

"Oh..yes, quite. Um, this is Lilith, Lilith this is..Buffy
...Willow..Xander and Anya. Lilith will
be my houseguest for-"

	"Our." Spike interupted.

"Huh? Oh, yes. OUR houseguest for a little while till she
is settled on her own again. Oh, Lilith, this is Spike, Spike
Lilith. He is my current...um.."

"Other houseguest. Yes, well till I get back on my own
feet. Then I'm out of here."

"Hi." she breathed, leaning over to shake his hand which
he took. "I see that Rupert is quite the charitible action man.
Taking in so many. Spike was it?"

"Yeah. Yeah, he has a tendency to be soft, a little too
soft if you ask me. A bit daft too at that. Well, I figure all of
them are, but what can you do?" he smiled.

Lilith chuckled and stepped a bit closer so they could
talk without having to talk past the others who were watching on in
amusment at how social Spike was being.

"How long have you lived there?"

Spike took a drag of his cigarette."Um..about two weeks or so.
Gets a bit boring though. And these guys are always crashing in all
the time, so I get no peace at all."

"Oh, well, maybe they'll try to be a bit quieter now
that he has TWO guests. Two weeks huh? Wow. I hope I don't have to
impose on him that long. I don't want to be trouble for him or
anything." she said looking at Giles and the group who were already
in animated conversation.

"I'm getting kind of tired." she said, stretching just
a bit. "Walk me home?" she turned to Spike.

	He smiled. "Sure."

Lilith tapped Giles on the shoulder."Rupert, we're going to
head on back to the house, alright?"

	Giles nodded absently.

Lilith smiled and turned grabbing her sued (?) jacket and
staring out the door in front of Spike.

As they turned to leave, Spike caught a flash of something on
her lowerback and smiled to himself. Tattood just below the small
of her back were the small words Bloodlust in black gothic letters
and two small fangs on either side, dripping blood. He was definatly
going to like this chit.

Lilith sighed as they walked the abandoned streets of
Sunnydale togather. She smiled and took Spike's arm. Spike raised an
eyebrow at her, but she didn't notice it. It was a cool night and
she just felt like being close to someone. Anyone.

She knew the dangers of Sunnydale from Giles. She had taken
the news of demons and such quite well. He had only told her because
she may be able to help them in research and she
had mentioned the
strange things back in her home town happening. She was sure she
had run into a few vampires a time or two before her foster parents
death and knew for certain that it was vampires that had killed them.
She had ended up staking one on accident, preparing to injure the
assumed human by stabbing him with a broken peice of a picture frame
and happened to puncture his heart. When he fell as dust, she was
thoroughly confused, though she knew exactly now what
he was, she
became even more frightened, seeing as how there were two more, and
fled the place as quick as she could and had been found by Angel.
She knew that he was a vampire as well and it took a few hours of
convincing that he wasn't going to hurt her. She felt bad about leaving
them, but decided she needed to start over.

Spike noticed her in deep thought as the emotions
crossed her face. He was curious about this one. She was different.
"So how did you get that tatoo on your back?" he asked.

Lilith snapped out of her thoughts suddenly by a low calm
voice. "What? Oh! Ahahaha. It was a dare. Two of my friends and I
went to a tatoo parlor and we all got to pick out each others tatoos
for one another. My friend had to get Tweedy Bird. Mine's kinda
ironic, though. Didn't know how much it would actually mean to me
later."

"What do you mean?" he had only heard bits and peices of her
story. Giles had failed to mention her foster parents death or Angel,
afraid that he would overreact at the mention of his sire's name.

"Well, I mean, I didn't figure vampires would be such a
big part of my life." she said quietly.

	Spike was shocked. "Vampires??"

"Rupert didn't tell you?" she asked, turning to him and
stopping.

"Tell me what, he didn't say anything about bleeding vampires."
he said, slightly angry at Giles' withholdance of information that
the others knew.

"My parents-uh-foster parents, were killed by vampires......
right in front of me. I ran out of there as fast as I could after I
accidentally killed one. I thought he was human, so I was going to
hurt him, slow him down, but he just burst right in front of me
and I knew from so many legends and stories and stuff that he had
to be a vampire. I couldn't believe it. Then there was the other
one that found me and took care of me in his office apartment for
a few days. He was so kind though. I am
totally confused about
the undead now." she sighed.

"Giles didn't tell me any of this, though I can probably
understand why."

	"What do you mean? Why?"

	"Because I am a vampire."

Lilith's eyes and heart sunk back as she stepped away.
"What?" she asked in a small voice. "Which-which kind are you?"

	Spike raised an eyebrow. "What?"

"Are....are you like those ones that killed my parents or like
that other one that helped me." she asked cautiously. Obviously, he
wasn't very threatening if Rupert kept him around his house for weeks.

"Well, usually I would be considered like those killers,
but under the current circumstances, I can't hurt anyone. Bloody
sucks if you ask me. No need to be afraid of me, pet. Can't hurt
anyone even if I wanted to."

Lilith was totally confused. "Oh, I'm just so......I can't
believe Rupert would leave that information out. He knows how I feel
about that. So, you won't hurt me."

	Spike sighed. "Even if I wanted to I couldn't. But I don't
want to so come on and let's get to the house before you find one
that does." he said extending his hand to her.

Liliths brain wracked her for the next few seconds.
So much covered in a very little amount of time. She could run. He
couldn't hurt her and she could run right back to Angel and Cordy
and be safe, but getting back would be half the task. Vampires and
demons were everywhere. And it was dark. A very dark night. She
noticed only at that moment the lack of stars in the sky and it
was very strange and scary somehow seeing as how the night was also
clear. She looked back at Spike and his outstretched hand. On the
other side, taking his hand and going with him would
mean that she
was brave enough to go with a vampire and be alone with him. He did
say that he wouldn't hurt her and couldn't, so that was a plus and
Rupert had to have known about him being one, so he must have trusted
him. The old saying came to her mind. Keep your friends close,
your enemies closer. She made her decision.

Smiling softly, she reached out for his hand just a someone
grabbed her from behind. She felt a growl behind her and time slowed
down. Just as she felt fangs about to peirce her neck, they
were gone and she was spun around, bringing her crashing into
Spike's chest as the creature that had been about to attack her fell
to dust before her eyes, a stake clanking the ground next to it.
She recognized Spike's arm around her, holding her to him, his other
hand raised, a small crossbow in it. He dropped the bow to his side,
taking a moment to catch his barings.

He saw lilith, her face, she was shuttering and in shock.
"Are you ok?" he asked softly.

She couldn't believe it. He had just saved her life. She had
been saved by a vampire...from a vampire. Spinning around, she
grabbed him, still scared and hugged him to her, seeking safetly
benieth his duster.

Spike was shocked at her reaction, but somehow had expected
someday for one of the girls to actually act like a girl. Now it
had happened. Rolling his eyes, he pulled her away from him and
ushered her to the house, locking both locks. He turned to see
Lilith sit on the couch, her hands rubbing on her arms. Confused
that she could still be in shock, he walked over and sat beside her.
"What is it? Bloody hell girl, you can't still be scared! He's dead!"

A tear fell from her eye as she relived the memories of
that night. They had just burst in right after her foster parents
came home. There was no warning. They were hungry, they caught
her parents just before they wen't inside, pulling Lilith out with
them and throwing her to the ground for later. Right there in front
of her, her mother and father screamed for their life's as they
fell away, bloody staining the ground everywhere. The vampire's just
laughed and sneered at their pleas. She couldn't believe that had
almost happened to her a few moments ago until the vampire beside her
had saved her. The...vampire....beside-.

Lilith jumped up and backed away, shaking in fear. When he
stood, she cried out, his face suddenly becomeing just like the other
ones that had hurt her. He was them, her mind said. RUN! RUN!
Running quickly, she dashed upstairs, running into the first room she
could find and closed the door, crawling behind the bed into the
corner and shivering, scared to death.

Spike quickly followed her upstairs, catching the door just
before it closed and walked into the room. He saw her in the corner,
huddled up and shivering in a ball.

"Bloody hell, what the hell happened to you. I didn't think
it was THAT bad!" he said, making his way over to her and kneeling in
front of her. She shut her eyes tightly and sobbed,
flinching when
he grabbed her arms lightly. She opened them and saw Spike again,
recognizing him as the one who saved her. Sobbing in relief, she
bolted up to her knees and wrapped her arms
around his neck, laying
her head on his shoulder, asking him silently to wash away all the
memories.

Spike knew that now was not the time to play the typical
male, and wrapped his arms around her back, holding her to him. "How
about we go downstairs and watch some Telly, ok?" he
asked quietly.

Nodding softly, she let him help her up and walked downstairs.
When they reached the couch, Spike grabbing a blanket from one of the
chairs and turned on the television. Laying the
blanket over her,
he sat beside her, pulling she shivering female down to lay on his
chest, stretching his legs out on either side of her as she curled up
on her side next to him. They watched the middle of some 1950's
movie before they both fell asleep.

Giles entered the apartment with the rest of the group at
about one in the morning. Spotting the sleeping couple immediatly, Giles
hushed the rest of the group.

"Why don't you all head home and check in with me tomorrow
after classes?" he suggested. With a nod from the group, Giles
wished them his goodbyes and turned out all the lights
before retiring
to his room. The two looked comfortable enough for the night and the
sun would not awaken them in the morning.

Lilith yawned and rolled further on her side snuggling into
the giant cool pillow she was layed next to. A pillow with rough denim
jeans and a leather duster on. One that als had hair and a face.
Lilith sat up quickly, spooking Spike awake as well, causing both
of them to jump and fall to the floor off the couch. Moaning and grabbing
her head, Lilith took in where she was and quickly
remembered last
night. Blushing slightly, she stood and mumbled an apology to the
agitated vampire on the floor before quickly retreating to the bathroom
for the next thirty minutes.
