Dear Soi, I really, really need some love advice right now. See, I have a crush on this classmate on mine. He's the Class President. He's not really that good-looking, but I've known him since 2nd grade, and he was really nice to me, so I developed this crush on him. Unfortunately, I'm starting to feel like I'm not just infatuated with him, I truly LOVE him. Of course, I'm trying my hardest to erase that feeling. I'm too young to fall in love, besides, if I told my friends, they probably wouldn't understand. I know that he has no feelings for me, but he doesn't even regard me as a friend, just an acquaintance. See, after 2nd grade we were in different classrooms, and communication just drifted away, until this year (6th grade) when we were back together again. But he did give me a pillow with a smiley face saying "You're Special!" on my birthday. Sometimes I cry at night thinking about the fact that he'll never like me. And now we seldom talk, now that he has a new 'friend'. A girl. But I know that they aren't going out. Just friends. But they seem awfully close and sometimes I get jealous. And sometimes I think to myself why he doesn't really like me. Is it because I'm smart (I'm on the honor roll)? Some people say that boys don't really like smart girls because they don't like their girls to be smarter than them. Or is it because I'm just not attractive? I've already said to myself more than once that "Time will tell". But I'm just so confused. Why did my feelings have to change from just a crush to something close to the likes of "love"? Dear crystal_tiara,     You said it yourself, you're too young (and don't know him well enough) to truly be in love. You have a very strong crush. Please don't feel bad; it happens to everyone in their lives, and as much as you'll hate to hear it, especially at your age. Just work on being friends. Sometimes it can develop into more, but either way you'll get a good friendship. Your brains and looks have no bearing on it either; people fall in love for a number of reasons, or choose not to based on the same...often it's your close friends you end up with. You're in sixth grade, right? As you go through school, you'll feel this over and over, and you'll get through it.
