Boot Camp

author:??
Caution:before reading there is mild swearing ok.. just to let ya know. Chapter One

On the surface of a small planet, located at the edge of the universe is a large training complex where thousands of soldiers of many races are put through grueling tests of skill and endurance until they are worthy enough to be called "warriors". Barakis7, also known as the "Living Nightmare", is a hellish world of sand and rock located in a part of the galaxy dubbed the "Shadow Zone".

Although the planet is indeed a wasteland, there is only one small sun that comes out every two days, replaced by three moons on the first night of its setting, and five on the second. Night lasts a seemingly endless 48 hours on this death planet, during which the surface reaches temperatures of -200 degrees Celsius.

"Boot Camp" as it has been nicknamed by its many trainees, is enclosed in a massive dome of steel and glass that stretches an incredible 100 square miles across the barren landscape. This is the story of a young Saiyan boy and his Namek friend who were sent to Boot Camp, hoping to fulfill their dreams and become true warriors.

"This place is horrible, there isn't anything to see, just rocks, sand, and more rocks," said Lain, the young Namek, as he looked out the window next to him "This makes me homesick for Namek. There isn't any greenery on this wasteland at all."

"Lucky for me I'm used to it, Planet Vageta isn't much better," said Bardock the Saiyan. The transport shuttle that carried the two youngsters came to a slow stop, hovering over a small hangar door on the outside of the dome. The spaceship descended into the dark docking bay inside. Once landed, Lain and Bardock got out of their seats and made their way to the exits. Upon exiting, the two kids were greeted by three small, green, four-eyed toad creatures. "Welcome to boot camp," said one of them. Lain, being the most polite of the two kids bowed his head in acknowledgement, only to have it kneed-in by one of the toad creatures. The injured Namek boy hit the ground with a thud, dropping his bags. Bardock helped his friend to his feet, who was wiping the purple blood from his forehead. The toad creatures laughed at the two boys, and kicked dirt in their faces. Bardock began gritting his teeth, as if he were about to charge a Ki blast. Lain tugged on his friend's shirt, "Don't do it...they will win," said Lain "I can sense their power levels, one of them could kill five of you." "How can you..." asked a surprised Bardock before he was interrupted by one of the toad creatures. "Hey little Saiyan, you look kind of mad," said one of the toad creatures "You want a piece of me?" Bardock helped Lain to his feet, and handed him his bags. The two friends walked passed the three toad creatures, who were still taunting the boys. "I swear, as soon as I get the power I will kill them all." "Don't worry about them," said Lain "They aren't worth the effort, save your energy for training." "Hey kids!" yelled one of the toad creatures, getting the boys' attention "That's just a little taste of what's in store for you in the days to come! I bet you won't last a day before you go crying home to your mommies." Bardock flipped them off, then turned around and followed Lain inside for registration. Neither one of the boys would ever had imagined that what the toad creature said was true. That was only a little taste of the intense training that was yet to come. Bardock and Lain entered a large room surrounded by enormous steel walls with a long counter in the middle, run by several technicians. Lining up in front of the counter were a dozen or so new recruits ready to begin their training. Most of the recruits were Saiyan, plus a few other races, but Lain was the only Namek in the room. "I feel a little strange Bardock," said Lain. "Well, you are the only Namek I know that actually wants to become a warrior," responded Bardock "Most of the guys from your home world wouldn't dare resort to violence to solve their problems." Lain looked at the ground depressed, feeling like he had betrayed his race in coming to this awful world. The two boys got in line behind a weird little alien boy who resembled a blue reptile of some sort, standing a mere three and a half feet, he was shorter than both Bardock and Lain. The little reptile turned around, "Hi, I'm Keishin," said the little blue reptile "My home is the planet Juradix, in the Western galaxy." "I am Lain, from Namek," "You two are way too polite," said Bardock, seeming disgusted "It makes me want to vomit." Lain ignored Bardock's comment and continued his conversation with Keishin. "So, you a pretty good fighter?" asked Lain "I sense that your power level is almost equal to mine." "You can sense power levels without a scouter!?" asked a surprised Keishin. "Pretty neat trick huh?" said Bardock, butting into the conversation "Most planetary tournaments outlaw the use of power reading devices such as scouters, but what they don't know is that Lain here can sense powers without one." "You guys must win a lot of fights that way," said Keishin. "You can say that again," responded Bardock, in a proud tone. "But that won't help you if you ever fight me," bragged Keishin. "And how's that?" asked Bardock. Keishin stepped back, and began gritting his teeth. A small wind picked up as he began to power up his Ki. A small power wave formed around his body, then it got bigger and bigger. He opened his mouth and began yelling in a deep voice that echoed through the room. Bolts of electric energy danced across his body as the fireball got bigger. The ground began to crack, and the wind got stronger, Keishin was still yelling, still powering up. "HOLY SHIT!!" yelled Lain out loud. "What is it Lain?" asked Bardock, getting nervous. "He...he's stronger than you!" yelled Lain who was shaking with astonishment "By three fold!!" The wind got stronger, blowing papers off the counter and people onto the ground. He kept on charging, and charging, until he was interrupted. "HEY KID!!" yelled a very loud voice from the crowd. Keishin immediately stopped charging his Ki, and looked for the source of the mysterious voice. A large figure about 7 feet tall with purple skin and two large horns poking out of his vein-covered head, pushed his way through the crowd. "What do you little bastards think you're doing?" scolded the large soldier "Hey lizard boy, save it for the training!" Keishin stepped back from his large superior, as did Lain and Bardock. "I am Captain Mygros, the head honcho around here, and if anyone wants to say other wise they can answer to me!" said Mygros, as he looked around the large registration room that was now a complete mess thanks to Keishin. A small toad creature ran up to Captain Mygros and spoke; "Captain sir, we have a little bit of a problem. One of the more powerful Saiyans has gone Oozaru and we are having trouble controlling him." Mygros glared at Bardock, "Why don't you boys come watch what happens when you piss off the Captain, you can consider it as the first lesson of your training."

Boot Camp
Chapter 2

Bardock, Lain, Keishin, the toad creature, and Mygros took flight. The five aliens flew over half the complex until they came to a stop, hovering above the transformed Saiyan. The giant ape was stomping around and firing Ki blasts from its mouth, causing a considerable amount of damage to the complex. Part of the large dome had caved in, and there were small fires burning all over. Some of the Camp guards were lying dead on the ground, others screaming in pain while clutching there fatal wounds. Captain Mygros slowly descended out of the sky until he landed right in front of the giant ape. The enormous monster turned towards the captain, and let a roar of anger. Mygros lifted his hand, which was glowing with purple Ki energy. "I will give you one more chance dirty Saiyan," he said, the glowing ball of energy getting larger. The Oozaru ignored Mygros' warning, and fired a Ki blast out of its mouth, straight at the Captain. Without even flinching, Mygros deflected the blast right back at his attacker, exploding in the giant ape's face. The Oozaru clutched its burning face and roared in pain, stomping wildly about. The captain finished charging the Ki energy, stared right into the Oozaru's burning eyes, and fired. The purple beam of light shot through the sky like lighting, hitting the Saiyan with devastating force, blasting a hole the size of a city bus right through its chest and out its back. The Ki blast continued traveling through the air until it impacted with a large mountain about a quarter mile away, destroying it in a cloud of fire and smoke. The troublemaking Saiyan fell to his knees with a thunderous boom, gripping his chest and choking on his own blood. Captain Mygros smirked, "I guess that'll teach you to destroy my complex you damn dirty ape." "Shi...shit, how did he?" stuttered Bardock, amazed that one of his Saiyan brothers could have been killed so easily. "Namek, can you sense his power?" asked Keishin. "Hold on, I will try," said Lain, concentrating very hard to sense the captain's amazing power. He was deep in thought for about a minute, then his eyes opened wide, and a trickle of sweat ran down the side of his cheek. The Namek boy fell to his knees, staring at Mygros with a look of both fear and amazement. "Well?" asked Keishin. "It can't be...it's just not possible!" yelled Lain "If he is as powerful as I am sensing...all three of us combined, not to mention a team of twenty toad creatures couldn't even imagine to defeat him! Not in our wildest dreams!" "So how strong is he... exactly?" asked Keishin, amazed yet doubtful. "I have sensed Price Vageta's power, as well as his father's many times before...and not even both of them, could defeat Mygros!" said Lain, even doubtful of his own words, even though he knew it to be true. Bardock's mouth dropped open, he did not believe a word of what his friend was saying. Bardock had seen Prince Vageta fight in many battles, witnessed his true power, he had witnessed first hand, the awe inspiring power that Saiyans can posses, and that had been the driving force of his entire life...to become a supreme warrior allowing no one to stand in his way. Now all his hopes and dreams were shattered, he now knew the truth about other aliens races. He had heard stories about a being named Freeza, who commanded the Saiyans like worthless slaves. But he had always believed these stories to be legends, he always thought that the Saiyans were the most powerful beings in the universe. After witnessing the power that this alien Captain possessed, he knew that there were greater forces in the universe...much greater, the Saiyans were mere pawns, controlled by forces that he, nor any of his brothers could ever dream of defeating...ever. "IT CAN'T BE TRUE!!" yelled Bardock, releasing a huge power blast that shook Keishin and Lain off their feet. Bardock fell to his knees, and a tear ran down his cheek, he spoke quietly "My Saiyan brothers...there is no hope." Boot Camp
Chapter 3

The next day Lain, Bardock, and their newfound friend Keishin woke to the sounds of the captain yelling. "Time to rise and shine you worthless maggots!" he yelled "Get your armor on and pick a partner, it's time for sparring practice." The three boys slowly got up from their bunks and put on their armor, still tired from the long trip they had made the day before. "I don't see why the hell we have to get up so early," said an angered Keishin. "Just put on the damn armor and let's go kick some ass," said Bardock. Everyone in the boys' barracks walked single file to the training room, lead by captain Mygros. Several toad creatures along with a couple of purple fish creatures escorted all the little soldiers. All of them finally came to a stop inside a huge artificial environment that was made up of mostly enormous fields of dead grass and a couple trees. The large group split into pairs and started doing basic hand-to-hand combat. Mygros walked up to Bardock, Lain, and Keishin who had not found partners yet. "I think you boys are too advanced for such simple training, why don't we raise the stakes a little?" "Um...no, we are perfectly fine with..." Lain was elbowed in the stomach by Bardock before he could finish is sentence. Mygros called over one of the purple fish creatures and gave him an order, "I want you to spar with that lizard boy over there." "Are you sure sir?" asked the fish creature "I mean he's just a weak little kid." "He's more than meets the eye, that little kid is almost as strong as you," said Mygros "Well, judging from what I've seen anyway." The fish creature nodded in acknowledgement, rolling his eyes. "Ok little punk, let's see what you got!" Keishin looked at Lain, then at the fish creature. "Can you sense this guys power?" he asked. "Yes, and I believe you can beat him if you try your best," responded Lain. Keishin smirked, then walked up about ten meters from the fish creature. "This should be amusing," said the fish creature. The purple fish man jumped fifty feet into the air and did a front flip, then fired a small Ki blast at Keishin. The small blue lizard boy jumped out of the way, narrowly avoiding the blast of energy. Keishin jumped backwards and launched himself off a tree behind him, right at the fish creature. "TIME TO DIE FISH MAN!!" Keishin put both his fists forward and they began to glow with Ki, he shot like a bullet right into the fish creature's chest, snapping all of his ribs. The fish creature flew back a hundred yards right into a large boulder, then fell to the ground struggling to breathe. "HA HA HA HA HA!!" Keishin laughed, pointing at the fish creature "That wasn't even worth the effort!" "Very impressive indeed," complimented captain Mygros "You are a very skilled fighter." "Well, Keishin got to have some fun," said Bardock "When do I get to have mine?" Mygros called over two of the three toad creatures that had attacked the boys upon their arrival to Boot Camp. "These two belong to a race that is much stronger than that of the fish men. They will be more of a challenge." "Lain, didn't you say one of them could kill five of me?" asked Bardock, sounding worried. "I want the Saiyan and the Namek boy to fight these two," ordered Mygros. "Are you sure that's fair sir?" asked Lain. "We're about to find out." Responded Mygros. The two toad creatures charged at the boys with full force, their fists glowing with Ki energy. Lain jumped out of the way, while Bardock ran right at the oncoming attackers. One of the toad creatures jumped high into the air, but the other didn't make it fast enough, he was struck right across the throat by Bardock's arm. Lain took flight, now pursuing the cowardly toad creature. Bardock did several back flips then landed, forming a martial arts pose. The toad creature he had injured jumped to his feet, spitting blood out of his mouth. "I bet that tastes good," said Bardock. Lain finally caught up to the other toad creature, and began to charge a Ki blast. Just as Lain was about to fire, the toad creature did a reverse flip and shot several Ki blasts at Lain. The little Namek managed to dodge a couple of the energy balls, but wasn't fast enough to avoid them all. One Ki blast hit Lain in the stomach, the other in his face. The toad creature grabbed Lain by his foot, then threw him down two hundred meters until he smashed head first into the ground. Bardock and the other toad creature were still fighting hard. "I think it's time I stopped toying with you Saiyan," said the toad. "Bring it on you bastard!" yelled Bardock. The toad creature fired a Ki blast at Bardock, but the little Saiyan was quick enough to dodge it. Bardock ran straight at the toad creature, yelling at the top of his lungs, "NOW YOU DIE!!" "Not today little brat!" The toad creature disappeared and reappeared behind Bardock. The surprised Saiyan tried to defend himself, but it was too late. A mighty Ki blast hit Bardock right in the back at close range, sending him smashing right into the ground. Mygros walked up to Bardock's limp body, which was lying lifeless in the middle of a large, steaming crater. "You fought well little Saiyan, better than I thought you would," said the captain "I can't say the same for your Namek friend." Lain was slowly limping over to Bardock, clutching his broken shoulder, and spitting up purple blood. "They...were...too...strong," whispered Lain, trying to catch his breath. The two toad creatures were laughing at the boys, enjoying every minute of their victory. "How pathetic, you barely even got one hit off," yelled one of the toad creatures in an obnoxious tone "Maybe you shouldn't have come here fresh out of pre-school!" "Silence!" yelled Mygros "They fought well for their ages, now leave before I break your green little necks!" "Are you guys ok?" asked Keishin. "Do we look ok to you?" responded an angered Bardock, choking on his own blood. "You boys get cleaned up and then report to me at dawn!" ordered Mygros "I have another test for you three." With that, the boys slowly made their way back to their bunks. Lain and Bardock went to the infirmary to get their wounds healed, then all three of them got showered and ate lunch. Lain was almost fully recovered once dawn rolled around. Bardock, being a true Saiyan, was now over twice as strong as he was before and ready for anything Mygros had to dish out.

Boot Camp

Chapter 4

Dawn had arrived, although it was seemingly impossible to tell whether or not it was dusk, or dawn, or the middle of the night. The three days of darkness had begun, and the only means of telling time was by clocks or watches. Captain Mygros was waiting patiently inside the large training area. Standing next to him were the same two toad men that had fought the boys earlier that day. Lain, Keishin, and Bardock all appeared on time, and ready for anything. "So what now?" asked Bardock "Don't tell me we have to fight these two bastards again." "No, I'm afraid not my boy," replied Mygros "I have something a bit more... difficult for you three." Lain and Keishin looked at each other confused, but Bardock just snickered at the captain and said, "I'm sure we can handle anything you throw at us...sir." "We shall see," said Mygros in a cold, quiet voice "Follow me." Mygros turned and began walking towards a huge steel door at the far end of the training complex. The three boys and the toad creatures followed him. There were four guards standing in front of the door, each wearing Saiyan armor and carrying laser blasters for protection. Mygros nodded at the guards, and they immediately stepped aside to allow the Captain and his soldiers to pass. The two toad creatures stopped at the entrance and allowed the three boys to go ahead of them, into the large, dark room that was behind the door. Once everyone was inside, the large steel door slammed shut, cutting off every last bit of light coming into the room. "Where the hell are we?" asked Bardock. Just as the Saiyan finished his sentence, the room was lighten brightly by hundreds of small light fixtures. The three boys could now see their surroundings, and they were amazed by what they saw. The room was one large dome, the inside of the walls were covered in three foot steel spikes that glimmered like diamonds. There were some small trees scattered in random locations across the tiny artificial landscape, as well as rocks and shrubbery. "This is incredible," said Lain quietly. The three boys followed captain Mygros further down the small path they had been following since the lights had turned on. They could see the end of the path from where they were standing, and there was a person sitting with his back turned at them. The person appeared to be meditating, or sleeping. Mygros walked up to the person and spoke; "I have some visitors for you." "Who's this guy?" asked Bardock in his usual rude tone. "He is the best fighter on the planet, second only to myself." Responded Myros. "Please don't tell me we have to fight him," said Lain with a worried tone "We can barely even stand up against the toad men...how can we possibly imagine to defeat him?" "You three have surprisingly impressive fighting skills, especially that little Juradin lizard boy," said Mygros. The strange person that was meditating slowly got to his feet and turned around to face his visitors. The creature was a tall, strange looking alien with a sleek, brownish-orange head that separated into thumb-width tentacles at the back of his head. He had one long slit across his face that was his eye, and the two small holes below that was his nose. The alien also had some sort of breathing apparatus covering his mouth and rapping around his neck. He was wearing large brown rags as clothes, and had metal boots on his feet. "I...I've never seen any species like this in my life," said Bardock amazed "I have traveled to hundreds of worlds spread across the stars, and I have never, ever laid eyes on a creature as...bizarre as this one. "Looks pretty ugly, but I bet he's no match for my perfect power!" yelled Keishin proudly. "I think this kid is having delusions of grandeur," said Bardock "Ever since we complimented him on his hidden power level, he seems to believe he is invincible...what a moron." "I'll show you what a moron can do!" yelled Keishin as he charged at Bardock. The little lizard boy shot at Bardock full force, only to be suddenly stopped by a fist in his gut about twenty feet from his target. It was Mygros. "Save it for the real fight junior," he said, throwing Keishin to the ground. The mysterious orange alien finally spoke, and he spoke in a quiet, echoing tone that sent chills running up the spines of Bardock and Lain," I am ready to fight now sir." "Very well, we shall see how good you kids really are," said Mygros. "No, now we shall see how good he is!" yelled Keishin in the over-confident, smart-ass tone he had developed since his easy victory over the toad man. Mygros yelled the final signal: "BEGIN!" With that, the three boys took their fighting stances, and the orange alien just stood there. "I am Varax, last of the Gabetta-jin," he said "Now that we are better acquainted, let the games begin!" "LET'S GO!" yelled Bardock. The three boys shot at Varax full speed, gritting their teeth and charging their Ki. Lain and Bardock left and right across the battle field, clearing the way for Keishin, who was charging a mighty Ki blast, and heading straight at Varax. The little lizard boy was just about to slam a Ki blast right into Varax's face when the big orange alien disappeared into thin air. Keishin immediately halted his attack, and frantically searched the battlefield for his target. "What...the...hell?" "Where'd he go?" yelled Bardock, who was hovering over Keishin. "He just disappeared!" responded Keishin. Out of nowhere, Varax struck Bardock in the back with a mighty blow of his elbow, sending the Saiyan crashing to the ground. The orange beast disappeared once more, re-appeared behind Lain, and struck him down with one blow as well. Varax disappeared again, this time reappearing in front of Keishin. "What now lizard boy?" asked Varax in his creepy, quiet tone "Your friends fell with one blow, where does that leave you?" "That leaves me with but one option..." whispered Keishin as his fist glowed with Ki energy "TOO KICK YOUR ASS!" The lizard boy swung at Varax with his glowing fist of Ki, hitting nothing but air. "Quit running you coward!" he yelled. Varax re-appeared hovering above Keishin, and spoke: "Strength isn't everything boy. My speed is unmatched even by Mygros himself, but my strength is far less than his." "So what you're trying to say is that you are weaker than I am, so you must use your speed to run away with your tail between you legs?" said Keishin in his usual smart-ass tone. "No little boy...Make no mistake, I am far stronger than you," said Varax "And to prove it, I will let you hit me with one attack of you choice." "Any attack? Even my strongest one?" asked Keishin, doubting the orange alien's words "Bull shit!" "No, I insist, strike me down with all of you might and fury," said Varax "At least you can try to." "You asked for it!" said Keishin "Here it is, you're only gonna get to see this once, so watch and learn." Keishin began charging his Ki energy, forming a ball of fire around his body. He began to yell as he gathered the energy he needed for the attack. Varax just stood watching. The little lizard boy upped an octave or to of his voice as his power got stronger. The ground began to tremble, and pieces of rock slowly lifted from the ground. A crater surrounded Keishin, and a strong wind picked up. "Here it comes you orange bastard!" yelled Keishin "IT'S TIME TO DIE!" The little lizard boy lifted his right hand, and fired a huge blast of red Ki energy that consumed everything around it. The blast crammed into Varax, who was going to take the full force of the blast instead of running from it. A blinding light filled the entire domed complex. An explosion of fire erupted from inside the light, incinerating all the greenery caught in the blast. Mygros just sat and watched, sitting a mere 100 meters from the blast. A violent, burning wind blew past Mygros like flaming hurricane. Although the captain wasn't even fazed by the blast, his scouter was blown from his face and into the flames. Keishin was still yelling, still finishing his attack. The blast wave kept getting bigger and bigger, the side of the dome began to crack and crumble under the tremendous force. Finally Keishin stopped emitting Ki energy, and let the blast die down. The little lizard boy was nearly out of breath. Huffing and puffing like a de-hydrated dog. He began to calm down, and gave a little smirk: "I guess you aren't as strong as you thought." The smoke finally cleared, revealing the damage inflicted by the attack. "NO! IT'S NOT POSSIBLE!" yelled Keishin as he stared at the still standing body of Varax. Varax was still standing, but his breathing device was completely busted, dangling from his chin by a single wire. The orange alien reached up and wiped the stream of blood that had trickled out of his mouth, then tore the breathing device off his face. "Nice attack kid. I think you busted my lip." Keishin fell to his knees, realizing that even his strongest attack was no match for this strange alien warrior. Before Varax could finish off the little lizard boy, Lain shot out of nowhere and kicked Varax in the side of his head. The Namek's attack was pointless. Varax simply grabbed Lain's foot, swung him around, and kneed him in the forehead. "Little green guy actually managed to hit me," said Varax "Impressive." "He's not the only one who's gonna hit you!" yelled Bardock, charging at Varax from behind. Bardock jumped into the air, and fired a Ki blast right down at Varax. Varax simply dodged the attack, but Bardock was ready for that. The little Saiyan searched around for Varax's re-appearing location, then he found it. Charging his fists with Ki, Bardock charged at the un-expecting Varax full force. With no time to dodge, Varax simply took the hit, and it was a strong hit at that. Bardock broke his large target's nose, sending a stream of blood spraying out into the air. Suddenly the battle zone turned into a field of stars, it was as if Bardock were floating in space. "What the..." The confused Saiyan looked around at his new surroundings, nothing but endless stars. Then a booming voice erupted from the darkness: "This is my realm Saiyan. When I teleport from one area to another, I enter this warp area, find an exit to the location I was to re-appear, then go to it. Nobody can locate me in this trans-dimensional rift, it is nowhere, and it is everywhere." "Let me out NOW!" yelled Bardock, who was beginning to lose control. "Not yet Saiyan," said Varax's echoing voice "I am not done toying with you." Suddenly Varax appeared in front of Barock, then another Varax behind him, then three more surrounded him. "LET ME OUT! LET ME OUT!" yelled Bardock, becoming frantic and uncontrollable. The field of stars seemed to be closing in on him, as were the five Varaxes. "Little Saiyan, it's time to die," said Varax "Little Saiyan it's time to die." Varax repeated the chant over and over again, driving Bardock to the brink of insanity. The five orange aliens closed in on the little Saiyan, punching and kicking wildly. Bardock felt his ribs snap, his nose break, his jaw shatter, and his spine crack. The field of stars disappeared, and Bardock's limp body fell to the ground, breaking his right arm. Varax re-appeared, standing ten feet in front of his victim. "You put up quite the fight little Saiyan," said Varax "But nobody can withstand my dimensional rift." "I...will...kill...you," stuttered Bardock, coughing up blood. Mygros started clapping and said: "Good work Varax, your power never ceases to amaze me. You boys did better than I expected, except maybe for the little Namek." Lain was still lying unconscious on the ground with a dent in his forehead. Keishin was still standing, but all his energy was depleted. "Let's get you boys into the healing capsules," said Mygros "You will feel good as new, and be ready to continue your training tomorrow."
