Super Famicom Games

Dragon Ball Z: Super Saiya Densetsu

English Translation: "Dragon Ball Z: The Super Legend of the Saiyans"

Type: RPG

Released in: 1992

The first DBZ game released for the Super Famicom (SNES), this game is basically a combination of the first 2 DBZ games for the Famicom (NES). Like its cousins on the NES, this game is an RPG that employs the use of the card system for battles.

Dragon Ball Z Super Butouden

English Translation: "Dragon Ball Z Super Battle Legends"

Type: Fighting

Released in: 1993

The first DBZ fighting game, this game incorporates the innovative split screen battle syste. With characters no seen in any other DBZ fighting games and a fairly high difficulty level, this game is indeed a good one despite its age.

Dragon Ball Z Super Butouden 2

English Translation: "Dragon Ball Z Super Battle Legends 2"

Type: Fighting

Released in: 1993

The second DBZ fighting game, this game has greatly improved graphics and gameplay compared to the previous game. There is now also a nice little ability for you to charge up your ki, something that you couldn't do in the first Super Butouden. The downside of this game however, is the character selection. There isn't too many characters to choose from, and some of them like Zangya is just plain dumb. The idea of having Broley as a secret character is a nice one though.

Dragon Ball Z Super Butouden 3

English Translation: "Dragon Ball Z Super Battle Legends 3"

Type: Fighting

Released in: 1994

The final game out of the Super Butouden series, this game is pretty much the same as SB2, except for the fact that it has slightly better graphics, better meteo moves, different characters, and different stages. It unfortunately might be worse than SB2 since it has no storymode.

Dragon Ball Z Super Gokouden

English Translation: "Dragon Ball Z Super Legend of Gokou"

Type: RPG/Simulation

Released in: 1995

The only Dragon Ball game for the Super Famicom, this game is a little weird in the fact that you just follow along with Gokou through the DB storyline, and the only things you have to do is make some choices (such as turning left or right), and doing some fighting by using different combinations of buttons to do different moves. This game is pretty cool, but since the difficulty level is very very high, don't play this game if you can't read Japanese!

Dragon Ball Z Super Gokouden 2

English Translation: "Dragon Ball Z Super Legend of Gokou 2"

Type: RPG/Simulation

Released in: 1995

The second game in the Gokouden series, this game follows through the storyline in DBZ, up to the fight against Freeza. You do pretty much the same thing in this game as you do in Gokouden 1, but the difficulty level in this game is much lower.

Dragon Ball Z Hyper Dimension

English Translation: "Dragon Ball Z Hyper Dimension"

Type: Fighting

Released in: 1996

In my opinion, the best DBZ game ever. Graphics, gameplay, special moves/meteos, and storymode.. they all kick butt in this game. Other than the lack of characters, I really see nothing else that is bad about this game. It is a very rare find, but if you can get this game, get it!
